I was quite sure about purchasing a schiit Valhalla tube amp until I discovered Ray's portable amps. This one (P-51 Mustang) looks really cool. Could it handle a pair of HD-650 decently? If not, which one of Ray's amps (portable if possible) should I get?

Thanks

I've used HD 650 with P-51. The P-51 sound sig works very well with the HD 650 but there's not nearly enough juice to drive them IMO, unless you listen at low volumes. I tried the SR-71A which is much more powerful. Unless you need portable, go AC powered for HD 650...no schiit! I mean yes Schiit.

I recently picked up some HD650s and was contemplating the P-51 until I borrowed my friends.  It works, and gets perty dang loud, but . . . I wouldn't say it drives them with any "authority."  I'm looking toward the SR 71b or iBasso PB2.
