Which of these would be best for pop/jazz and techno music (all of them are priced at about US$300) unamped?
Not a basshead, but bass is important!

1. Ortofon e-Q5 (US $270)
2. Ortofon e-Q7 (US $320)
3. Radius W21 (US $300)

Or do you think the Panasonic HJE900 (US $190) or the radius DDM (US $150) or the DBA-02 (US 170) would suffice for that kind of music?

Or should I just bite the bait and get the Sennhesier IE8 for US $400?

PS:I had almost decided on the panasonic when I read about the others in detail!
(The prices in US are the ones I can get them at where I live)

No one has heard the DDM 2 yet, since it is still on pre-order stage, just so you know,

I just (2 days ago) got my ortofon en-q7 from Dmitri at musicaacoustics.com

They are *amazing* even unamped through my nano, and very very impressive through my stello da100 dac and heed canamp.

Highly reccommended, very high build quality

The en-q7 does have microphonics though (touch the cable it crackles)

Thanks Scott!
Do you listen to pop/techno?
I dont intend to use it with an Amp - that should be ok,right?

I listen to mainly deep house techno and rap, the ortofons have the best base I have heard from an in ear. As I type this I loaded up Armen Van Heldens My My My on my nano, and then on my desktop rig (stello dac and heed canamp) Its markedly better when I compare (as it should be) but to be honest I often walk around the house with just the Nano on.

Very happy with the ortofons

Have to agree, the ortofon's are excellent for techno/pop

I think the e-Q7 is great for electro/techno. This music is often bass heavy and it comes off sounding super tight without being over done / boomy ( like my W3 w/ no EQ). I use no EQ w/ e-Q7. I wear mine over the ear and don't experience any microphonics. I use a 6G Nano LO into Pico Slim.

The e-Q7 is pure magic with vocal IMO. I love these things!

I haven't heard the Radius. e-Q7 beats e-Q5 hands down to my ears for music enjoyment. e-Q7 sounds way more natural IMO.

If you are looking for accuracy, I would get the DBA-02. Or better yet - Etymotic ER4 P/S.
