Oriveti OD200 and Simgot EA1000 - Yin and Yang

1000046567-01.jpeg

Really, this is how they present themselves to me. I have been listening to them nonstop for a while. EA1000 since Thursday, and OD200 for more - almost 2 weeks. And both of them are incredible at what they do, sufficiently different to have their own unique signatures, and excelling in performance - making them unputdownable.

The OD200 are the more relaxed one, with a greater soundstage. The headspace created by them has excellent depth, width, and height - creating a highly three-dimensional presentation. The imaging is also immaculate within the space. The midbass is delightful, subbass controlled, full midrange, smooth but crisp treble that extends sufficiently. Notes are slightly smoother in comparison. Nevertheless, it is a highly musical and refined performance all around. They are the Yin, made for laid-back and comfortable listening sessions.

The EA1000 are the exact opposite. They are the king of textures and details. The level of resolution delivered by a single DD is truly unprecedented here. And what's more - the note weight and body are not sacrificed at all in the process! They are exquisitely defined to have a very full and tactile presence. The subbass is comparatively a degree higher, and the midbass delivers a pleasant slam as well. Midrange and treble have an exhilarating presence that is nothing short of stunning. The soundstage is slightly intimate in comparison, but still has very good width, and a tad bit less depth and height. Imaging is razor sharp. The overall presentation is more clear and radiant, slightly detail-oriented, with adequate musicality. They are the Yang, made for active and joyful listening sessions.

I cannot be thankful enough to have the best of both worlds in my collection.

The SR DTE900 don’t stand a chance vs. the OH700VB. They have to go.
Can you please explain this more? Did not find the DTE900 good enough?

Yes, for sure. For my taste, the DTE900 fall short in the midrange and are not delivering the « soul » I am looking for in a set of IEMs, independently of tuning. The OD200 are better sounding to me, from every source and amp I tried. Vs the OH700VB? There is nothing to say. But once more, this is one man’s opinion, just mine actually.

The DTE900 are a bit thin sounding in the midrange and the bass has nothing exceptional to it. Ootb, I loved the DTE900, but the more I listened to them, the more I am not convinced they suit my taste. Some warmth and soul fail. I miss note weight. Technically proficient, the DTE900 are pleasing and will please many ears, but not mine in the long run.

The Oriveti definitely feel more polished than the DTE900 but still a very set

Oh well, back to the silver nozzles. I can't listen for long sessions on the black nozzles. It gets a bit too fatiguing for me.

Ohh man! With the bass switches on on OH700VB, I cannot handle the bass sometimes. It becomes bit too overwhelming for me on some tracks. I am certainly not a basshead, it seems. The quantity of bass is too much for me sometimes. The quality is amazing, no doubt. Such a fun iem it is.

Haha yes. But then the bass becomes underwhelming. I want to enjoy the massive bass with switches on, but it’s too much to handle at times. A basshead’s delight.

Is there a guide on how to become a basshead? Lol

Since the day I received them, the OD100 have not left my pocket. They are my go-to IEM for casual listening while on the move, directly from my phone. The highly dynamic and transparent sound that they offer is quite addictive. Yes, the tuning is leaning towards bright, but fortunately, there is no uncomfortable and unnatural peak that may sound piercing. The treble is also one of the best in its class - bold, well-bodied, well-extended. The wide open and transparent presentation makes the experience very pleasing.

Full review coming soon. Suffice it to say I love these little guys, they are masters at what they do, in their price range. It's really delightfully surprising how big they sound despite having such a small size.

It's easier when you keep using the same tips I always use KZ foam tips and try to align the coupler peak at 8k for consistency but thoose two graph look similar

Your set on paper looks better than mine.
I just put on a 500 Lev Mesh Filter to tame the upper mids and highs and like it very much now. Too spicy before.

Just putting the OD100 through it's paces and got to say it's rather splendid! In its price bracket it top of the class Oriveti seem to have nailed natural full bodied vocals if the OD200 was all about the mids and the OH700VB about the bass the OD100 is all about the treble for me. So few budget sets especially DD get the treble right without being too thin in the mids for me. Compared to the Tangzu Fudu it's almost ridiculous the Fudu manages to introduce sibilance to tracks that have never seen it before. I'm prefering the OD100 to the simgot EA500, ARTTI R1, muse east 6 and Olina SE so far
