Yes, almost all android board will have integrated DAC. Unless manufacturer stated (like how V20 disable snapdragon astiq dac, and even then, many 3rd party app cannot fully utilize its quad dac to fullest ability. 3rd party can only use one dac, with android own interface, which downsample the music), we don't know if there is any routing done thru the integrated DAC. The only way to be sure is to disassemble X1 / X1A and see if its integrated DAC still around or not.

This is general android issue. I just found out that Axon 7 smartphone which have its AKM DAC have same issue, whereby only its own native app can utilize its AKM DAC fully. Other 3rd party app downsample and use the integrated DAC

Did someone test Poweramp and 2.5 balanced output?

Not yet but I think the alpha built might eventually be able to take advantage of the Hifi DAC

Well I just installed the 703 it is free for 2 weeks if you register on the forum $3.99 thee after, and I can tell it is working and I thing it is gonna be the way to go (so far no streaming  playing like DNLS and no V4android but I I think no needed the  sound is very nice)

anyway in setting -audio-hi-res output (experimental)

direct Hardware 24 bit 96/192Khz

wired headset/aux

Incidentally, i also read the same thing for V20. Poweramp alpha..(and only its future alpha version)  is one of the player confirmed to be able to fully utilize its quad dac configuration and will not downsample the song.

I just downloaded hiby music player, it is easy to use and it plays dsd iso file which onkyo native player cannot,
and it can play all my music on my private cloud at home through wifi, it is awesome.
The question remains, does Hiby ufully utilize the benefit of dual dac?
Will try 2.5mm balanced output when I have my cable ready.

The big issue with hiby is the playing order when you play album from your network it just play alphabetically instead of track # the developer is aware of it should be fixed soon or later.

Playing from 2.5 my feeling is all the applications playing music use the built in snap dragon DAC and use both amp to play balanced except if you use the Onkyo player or the alpha version of Power Amp in this case I think both DAC and both AMP are  used.

I advice you to try it I think you gonna like the sound.

as far as i know, poweramp doesn't work on DP-X1 as high res output, when you set it and then restart the application, you will receive an error.
notice that Snapdragon 24bit PCM is listed as high res output...

If there is a CPU dac on the CPU board , a dac output analog signals. How can analog signals wired to the Sabre dac/amp board and get to the earphone jack?

This is getting non-sense in engineering prospect.

And for over one year there is no prove of an CPU dac exists.

It is like suspecting there is a gsm phone hidden in a DAP because it use a Snapdragon CPU.

2.5 balance is dual dac. Unless your app cannot make a sound through 2.5 balance jack.

Any app can play on 2.5mm, at least any I tried - poweramp, hibimusic, onkyo HiFi player, Denon player, Neutron Player ...
However, it does not prove anything, as far as dual DAC utilization, IMO Audio output simply gets routed to 2.5 jack once the plug is in there.
You do not need two DACs/AMPs to produce balanced signal, plenty of units have balanced out with a single DAC/AMP. So just because you have sound on 2.5 you cannot conclude you using both DACs
