Just a quick post, there's a Japanese Phile Web review (tip: open in Chrome and select translation).

Reading through it now.

One thing I saw from the first page, I prefer the larger size of the side buttons on the Pioneer XDP-100R...sigh...

Well, the jack looks to be glued on, so I guess the above solution is real. You can always give it some good glues onto the chassis and it won't break off. I already have a way to do it lol.

Yes I found those button of the right size when I had the XDP-100, smaller won't be better one thing is good though the power button with a recessed dip is better.
 
The volume wheel looks bigger on those other pic, that might lead to unwanted volume change although you should always enable volume lock by default when screen is locked, at least on the go.

Weirdly, I seem to hit the more exposed side of the volume pot on the front of the screen when it's laying down on my desk than I do from the recessed side on the back of the volume pot. (As in I hit it by accident more often the exposed side of volume pot). That's not so bad considering that the Pioneer XDP-100R looks like a worse ergonomical volume pot vs DP-X1.
I'm not sure I'll enjoy the volume lock function when I'm carrying my DP-X1 but it might be that I'll have no choice. Will test this tomorrow.

The recessed power button is a nice touch, but every side button should have been enlarged slightly.

I've had a reoccurring playback issue. On at least three occasions the player will play, but no sound comes out despite the track progress indicator moving. This happens after a pause of at least a few minutes or if an album has ended and a few moments elapsed before I find something new to play. The only way to get the player to output sound after is to unplug the headphone. I tried closing the player, waiting about 10 seconds opening the player again and even if I select new material no sound. Once I unplug the headphones, wait a few seconds plug them in again then sound will come out. I'm going to see if I can trigger this issue consistently. Just wanted to see if anybody else has experienced this?

Seeing as how everything has been left at default settings if this was the case you would expect others to have the same issue. Perhaps it is still possible?

I've never had this issue but post whatever you can (current settings, etc); I will help as much as I can Sonic Defender!

I know lg-v10 was one of the first to get in the usamarket but it seems from ESS technologies, we are going to have more audiophile phones available

@TheOneInYellow, thanks buddy, no worries. It isn't a huge issue, nor does it constantly occur, but yes I will look into things for sure and post any relevant findings for feedback and to inform others. It is good that nobody else has had this issue. Could it be at all possible that the type of SD card is a factor? All of my music is on a Sandisk Ultra 64GB card.

Apparently it requires twice the power of the current best portable ESS chips so not likely until batteries advance further.

Sony already claimed and patented a new battery technology that hold the charge 4x times longer, and charge 4x time faster than the current on the market....the smartphone and audiophile portable worlds will have a collision soon enough....whoever come out on top would be the first one to take the boldest move

Regardless, smartphone + audiophile quality audio just make so much senses, live stream from 4K Netflix to tidal lossless music etc...why not ?
