By design, this is twin boards design. The digital output from android board need to go through the dac/amp board in order to reach your earphone.

It is similar to using a phone pair with mojo (dac/amp).

So no matter what, it is impossible to not go through the 9018 dac.

Could somebody please pm me Onkyo Japan's email?  I would greatly appreciate it.  I cannot read Japanese.  Also if anybody else has talked to Onkyo about the DPX1A coming to the states please share your information.  I am very curious.

Thank you

Which is pretty odd considering fiio is advertising their X5iii as a device that will have dual DACs functioning even in 3rd party apps. Perhaps they encoded it in the android architecture.

Either way, I can't tell the difference, and I'm not sure if that's a good thing.

i remember i read the same thing with even LG V20. It will function at its full capabilities using LG's own music app. Not every third party apps will be able to utilize their quad dac full functionalities (although there are, such as google play music, as tested by some forumers in xda). I imagine it will be very hard as well to test it with almost every piece of third party apps out there, and i believe it is hard as well for every third party music apps to test and rewrite their app to suite all kinds of audio hardwares coming out every month or two..

quad DAC? what's the benefit to that? Also I don't think it's the apps that are responsible. I may be wrong but it should be possible to block the way audio outputs, and force all audio to go through both channels, But something tells me this would have to be done by editing the source code. Otherwise how would FiiO be able to state that their dual DAC device utilizes both DACs in 3rd part apps?

Guess there is no chance the DP-X1A will have a better battery.

Somebody earlier in this thread said that the DPX1 should get up to 12 hours and DPX1A should get up to 20 hours.  The DPX1A has not been out or available in most of the world.  So don't be too quick to judge unless you own or have tested the DPX1A yourself.  There is still hope.  I do not know this as a concrete fact.   This is just something I heard.  It may or not be partly or completely accurate.  I do not know myself.

Cheers

Something is not right in Onkyo answer. I have both 2.5 and 3.5 and the output (volume) is more than twice on 2.5. Same song I'm listening around 100 volume on 3.5 I have to lower to 47 on 2.5. That makes me believe only 1 amp is active on 3.5

Have you tried the 2.5mm output balanced mode with music application other than the Onkyo one and if yes did you get the same result?
