The mini x1 is Linux based instead of Android. Even with balanced port it is no fight vs dp-x1 for streaming music and apps.

The thickness of the Mini X1 seems to suggest either a powerful amp or a bigger battery, and my guess is a powerful amp. Did you have a chance to ask about the power output of the mini version compared to the current version?

Yes, any 44.1k multiple will automatically re-sample to 48k multiple. This due to hardware (single 48k crystal oscillator) and Android OS(SRC, Sample Rate Conversion) limitations. This also mean, there is no DSD native playback, will convert to PCM 192k.

Well, basically the Japanese speaker describes what she is seeing. "It seem to have a camera", "It seem to have a SIM-Slot" etc. No word whether this is a phone or not.

This is at IFA in Berlin. I am wondering why the speaker of this video does not simply ask the Onkyo staff who is presenting this device? Weird....

By the way, I will be at IFA on tuesday and will have a look by myself! :)

great!
waiting for your impressions later.

such joke...
okay :frowning2:

However, if you use an external DAC via USB output, it will stream bit perfect so 44.1k multiple and DSD will work.

is there a real proofs that it is hardware-locked on 48kHz?

if it is just android src - i can eventually fix it but if it is hardware...

Nope, got an email from Onkyo that the single 48k crystal oscillator is the limitation.

As others have mentioned, the inclusion of a camera in the DP-X2 is a little.. odd. I'd rather have a device that is completely dedicated to audio, rather than a jack-of-all-trades media device. Hoping to read/hear more from Onkyo soon.

Perhaps the dpx2 is a lower priced (!) take at apples ipod touch?
