A gorilla told me last night that this DP-X1 did in fact use the glass made by his family member.

Still, strange that Onkyo doesn't mention it as a feature so unless there is official confirmation I guess to be safe we have to assume that it does not use Gorilla Glass.

Does anyone know if the DP-X1 accessories (leather case, screen protectors, etc.) will be available from a North American shop or will they solely be Japan imports?

I ordered the DP-X1 through Onkyo's Amazon storefront and I purchased a tiny Pelican case to store it in, but I still would prefer the added protection.

weird... because I have the exact setup and hissing happens when I'm on any 3rd party music player (Tidal, apple music and sound Cloud)  on the local music player yes it's clean but the sound coming out of the BALANCE out is too minuscule coming from the SE535.  I only use it now to work out.  My bigger cans are the only thing i plug on my DP-X1 balanced.
My impact audio cables are built with eidolon mmcx connectors for Shure SE535 with absolute no hiss.

Yes, SE 3.5 to Balanced 2.5 is bad juju. But not swapping a cable line from a 1:1 trrs 3.5 with an adaptor 2.5 on will not short the system.
Right side ear cup (-r=+l, +r=+r)
Left side ear cup (+l=-l, -l=-r)

From what I'm seeing no shorten line. But what do I know I'm just an electrical engineer.

Agreed.  But the original person asked about a 2.5mm TRRS jack to a 3.5mm TRS (SE) jack, so I assumed that the cable was SE.  Absolutely no issues if you have a 1:1 pinout swap and are going from balanced TRRS to balanced TRRS, but just changing plug diameter. But I'm just a lowly Computer Engineer (with a focus on software

Hrm, so you're saying volume for balanced with Shure IEMs is weak? That seems like a deal breaker if true on needing a balance cable... Gah, this shouldn't be this hard. :)

My 846s are way harder to drive than the 535s.

You can also say that after running my EL-8 balanced on the DP-X1, everything else is doesn't compare no (until I finish my Balanced cable for my OPPO PM-1).
I still use the SE 535 but for something that quality of sound is not necessary. Like working out, working in my garage or making skins for the DP-X1.

Right, but what would account for volume loss with IEMs and balanced? Have others experienced this?
