ONKYO DP-X1 | Dual Sabre Dacs | Balanced | Sabre BTL Amp | MQA | DSD 256 | Android 5 |

Why would you use this converter on DP-X1? I own this one to use my balanced cable on my SE DAP.

DP-X1 has both output. So, use balanced cable on balanced output and single ended cable on SE output.

Balanced is obvously best than SE on DX-P1 so why downgrade your balanced headphone to SE with this converter?

It use for external amp which have 3.5 mm output. If you have 2.5 mm TRRS you can't connect directly with some good amp such as Mojo.

You should have tell it. Yes, of course, this converter is very useful to switch your balanced headphone from bal output of dp-x1 to single ended output of mojo. It make sense, true!

Good morning!

Let me ask the question more specifically!

What brand / manufacturer of balanced cables with a 2.5 ending would you recommend for Sennheiser HD700 / HD 800?

I have googled quite a bit and would rather rely on an actual user's experience.

Guys,

DP-X1 or FiiO X7?
(Ignoring Onkyo's balanced output.)
B

I haven't tried the FiiO, but the Onkyo on single ended, I wouldn't pay for it. You're better off with the cheaper mid tier players. It's on balanced that it really really pulls ahead. The difference is night and day. Unlike most other audio upgrades, this is truly a night and day difference so I do recommend you go for it only if you're using it balanced.

Not sure what you guys mean but the mojo is a dac amp. It cannot take an analog signal. You can only input a digital signal into the mojo, which can be done through the onkyo's USB digital audio output.

My mistake lol

I should give an example like Duet, Alo RX or other amp haha.

Unfortunately, most of us here do not own Sennheiser HD800/700 and are thus unable to provide a confident recommendation.
Perhaps you should post your question in the Introductions, Help and RecommendationsCables, Power, Tweaks, Speakers, Accessories (DBT-Free Forum), or the respective Sennheiser HD800 or HD700 thread.

Can you put an example for mid tier DAP? Is DP-X1 SE better than DX80 or Fiio X5II?

Hope it works out for you! I'm lucky not to experience the crashes you're experiencing. What type of music files do you have? Mine are all FLAC and a few DSF files.

Did you install any apps in your device? The apps I installed are Carbon (Twitter app), Pixiv and 3 music players.

Mine are in mp3s and FLACs.

Currently, no other apps on the device.

And nope, the crashes are still happening. Sigh.

Does it crash when you play mp3s in upsampling mode? Or does it crash even when you play FLAC files?

Based on what was observed so far, no crashes happened during the playing of FLAC files.

Almost exclusively with the mp3 files.

That's probably it then: mp3 files don't play nicely with the DP-X1.

Kinda sucks because I have some files in lossy format (thanks iTunes). I haven't transferred those files into the DP-X1 yet, but knowing now about the crash, I have to be mindful to not play lossy files in upsampling mode.

I mean, it's not THAT bad, I don't hear that much difference with the upsampling anyway. That being said, I am using SE because my balanced IEMs aren't here yet. Plus, it doesn't happen THAT frequently, but enough to cause an irritation. Haha.

Haha, I did say "kinda sucks", implying "well, it is what it is." I leave it in upsampling mode all the time for no reason really, but if/when I transfer lossy into this thing, I'll just turn upsampling mode off.

It's probably also Android being Android, gonna have to live with it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
