ONIX Miracle - New Generation Hi-Fi Streamer

Thanks @Shanling . I have tried a few. Screen casting is not an issue. However, they seem to require subscriptions to actually remotely control the screen on the android device. Which I am not going to bother with since I am only demoing the Miracle at this stage. But it does go towards the point that perhaps you really should have wireless projection implemented since the Eddict Player is free and customised for your devices anyway. Unless there are some technical limitations that a lay person like myself may not be aware of. :)

I used Airdroid free version to control the device, but it might be different for iOS. Not certain on it.

This answer is somewhat puzzling to me :frowning2:
EM5 and Onix Miracle use different system approaches.

Onix Miracle uses fully working Android DAP, with access to things like Android recovery menu as a failsafe if something goes bad with 3rd party apps.
EM5 doesn't allow this and with any significant software issue the unit would have to be shipped to China for a fix. Hence the decision of the software team to lock the system.

I was just trying the Earphone Mode under the HP out yesterday evening in bed. With the Final Audio B1, which is a hybrid of DD and BA drivers. Frankly, one of their underrated IEMs. Very good but difficult to drive. It scales nicely with the Miracle.

Quick Q @Shanling : I understand that it is a different gain from normal headphone mode, but will it have the same 3 gain stages under Audio settings as the headphone mode as well?

Thanks!

Yes, it will still allow for 3 gain settings, so overall you are dealing with 6 gain settings, for ideal matching with headphones.

Thanks @Shanling . Just running it right now. Yes, that is most useful. :)

Decided to take the HE-6 out for a spin with the Onix Miracle. Pleasantly surprised. The HE-6 sounds rich and lush. Always a good sign. Good headroom and soundstage. :)

Quick question, @Shanling: I had a quick play around with the voltage output setting of the XPS10 LPS. I recall reading about a short note that the adjustable 12-24V voltage sound tuning. Can you elaborate how that would work? That would be most helpful. I am still exploring the Onix. Thanks! :)

Took the ES-R10 out for a spin with the Miracle over the weekend. The ES-R10 is a sensitive HP. A lot of folks drive it out of their DAPs. A favoured paring is with the Sony 1AM2/1ZM2.

Happy to say no issues with hiss on the Miracle. The ES-R10 still sounds euphonic, engaging and nuanced. :)

Thought it was time to take the XM10 DAP for a spin. The interesting thing about the XM10 is because it has such a slim profile, there is only a 3.5mm PO. But a balanced 3.5mm to 4.4mm adapter is provided.

For the FitEar MH3335ht, I was listening at vol 15 on low gain. For the FitEar Titan, I was listening at vol 20 on high gain. Finally, the FitEar DC Ti was driven at 22-24 on high gain.

Mind you, it is only a couple of hours of listening on the XM10 and so it will still evolve and open up. However, initial impressions are that the XM10 has an organic sound signature. At this early stage, probably not as warm as the Shanling M8. Perhaps closer to the M9+. Nice soundstage, nuanced and layered with the FitEars. :)

@Shanling : think you may have missed the Q in respect of voltage adjustment and impact on sound tuning. Thanks!

Ok, so for this setting, it was tested with quite a lot of headphones in our office, by Onix team and at the shows.

Its effect will depend on headphones you use. Our current recommendation is to pump up the voltage for planars, I also quite enjoy it with some smoother dynamic drivers, it gives them bit more dynamic sound. On opposite end, lower voltage results in a bit more relaxed presentation and for example my boss like it with HD800s.

Just a quick update on time with the Onix Miracle. One thing I will say about the sound signature of the Onix Miracle is that whilst it is not the same as the classic Shanling house sound, it is just as organic as the Shanling house sound. A mainland China reviewer (see https://post.smzdm.com/p/agqexq87/) described the sound signature as being the classic English hifi sound. Which is probably right. It is organic and musical. Not dry at all. I would say it is on the warmer side of neutral. :) Which is precisely why I am such a big fan of Shanling.

I reckon that although Shanling does the FW and software implementation for the Onix Miracle, the tuning itself is done by Onix. @Shanling : what is the division of tasks between Shanling and Onix for the Miracle? Thanks!

@Shanling I am moving on to test out the Eddict Player interaction with the Onix Miracle stack. I am using the iPhone 14 Max Pro. Latest FW and latest Eddict Player.

As you can see from the attached screen shot from the Onix Miracle manual, the explanation is a bit a cryptic. Please elaborate: under (1) below which settings is this? There is no context for this at all. .

The other questions are these:
1. am I able to use DLNA to stream to the XP10 as an audio output?
2. am I able to play from my NAS into the XP10 as an audio output?

I am afraid that using the Eddict Player with the Shanling ET-3 is more intuitive. Your guidance is much appreciated.

@Shanling These are screen shots of when I connect the XP10 via Synclink. When I do a music scan, I am told there are no files to be scanned. Which is incorrect because there is 1 TB SD card in the XM10 and a HDD attached to the XP10. I will show in the next post the screen shots I get when I choose the XM10 in syncLink.

@Shanling As indicated above, these are the screenshots of when I connect to the XM10 (as opposed to the XP10, as suggested in the Onix Miracle Manual). There is a full scanning of the SD card in the XM10 as well as the attached HDD. I am puzzled why this will not work when I choose to connect to the XP10, as suggested by the manual.

Thanks!
