ONIX Miracle - New Generation Hi-Fi Streamer

@Shanling As indicated above, these are the screenshots of when I connect to the XM10 (as opposed to the XP10, as suggested in the Onix Miracle Manual). There is a full scanning of the SD card in the XM10 as well as the attached HDD. I am puzzled why this will not work when I choose to connect to the XP10, as suggested by the manual.

Thanks!

@Shanling One more suggestion, if I may, for the Eddict Player: I may be wrong, but it seems that every time i connect to a device, is it correct that I have to perform a music scan? The reason I ask is because it takes a while and further, the Eddict Player takes a while to display the full list of albums. It is quite a lag. Would it not make sense for the full list to be retained in the Eddict Player and to be updated as may be necessary?

Of course, I could be wrong. :) Thanks!

Hi Kiats,
Welcome to the club of unfortunate Eddict users.
It seems that, as many others, you encounter some problems with this software that is slowly turning all customers of shelling products to other brands
Which is a pity as the sound of Shanling devices is superb...
But maybe reports like these, on a product that is sold for a price that is not trivial, will encourage them to staff the software team and maybe the headquarters at Shanling will start listening to their users and fulfill their requests !
So thanks for those reports...

Haha! Not at all! The Eddict Player (and DLNA and NAS) works beautifully on the M30 and ET-3. Just figuring out if I am missing anything on the Onix Miracle. It could be better documented in the user manual, that much I will say.

@Shanling knows about the documentation issue. Constructive feedback will help him speak to the Product Managers on how to improve the user experience for sure. :)

For sure it will not.
Almost ALL users of Shanling products are asking for Eddict to run reliably and to add basic features for almost 2 years now. Nothing has been done...

Question.
You use Eddict.
You want to listen to an album.
So you go to the folder with that album.
You hit the first track.
All tracks in the folder are added to your playlist.
Playback starts.
What do you expect to happen once all tracks have been played ?
a) For Eddict to skip to next folder and start playing the next folder ?
b) For playback to stop once last track has been played ?
c) For Eddict to repeat playback of those files endlessly ?
d) For Eddict to let you decide between a b and c ?

Question 2 :
Do you consider that it is normal for an app that comes with a 5k device to not offer a widget that would allow basic operation like play/pause or skip track without having to go back to app when every other app does it ?
a) Yes
b) No

Oh.... And by the way. The Shanling representative that sometimes shows up already stated in another thread that he can only pas our comments to the software team.
But when you get a reply like : "Our software team things airplay 2.0 is not needed and so it is not implemented in any of our products" do you think there's hope for improvement ?
I also reported bad translations. Instead of looking into it and maybe give a thanks for trying to help, the answer was : "Translations are made by our distributors and they did not report something like you said". In other words, we won't move just go look elsewhere...

Sorry but that is not acceptable on a 800€ product like the EH-3 I own. As a lawyer I would go on a legal sue if I would have that on a 5k product.

But you are lucky. Shanling allows you to install third party software on your device. If I were you, I'd do my best to escape from the Eddict plague and use bubble, uapp or Symfonium...

Regards

@Shanling These are screen shots of when I connect the XP10 via Synclink. When I do a music scan, I am told there are no files to be scanned. Which is incorrect because there is 1 TB SD card in the XM10 and a HDD attached to the XP10. I will show in the next post the screen shots I get when I choose the XM10 in syncLink.

IMG_2137.pngIMG_2136.png
@Shanling I did an experiment this afternoon.

Correct me if I am incorrect in my assumptions (and it was purely coincidental):

1. I need to first select ONIX XP10 in SyncLink to connect
2. I then click on Music Scan
3. It will start scanning the files in the attached USB drive
4. Once, done it will show the albums
5. Under folders, I will see that the USB drive has been scanned.

The only issue I have with scanning via this method, ie. via ONIX XP10 is that only the USB drive will be scanned. It does not appear to scan or capture the music in the SD card in the XM10.

@Shanling I am moving on to test out the Eddict Player interaction with the Onix Miracle stack. I am using the iPhone 14 Max Pro. Latest FW and latest Eddict Player.

As you can see from the attached screen shot from the Onix Miracle manual, the explanation is a bit a cryptic. Please elaborate: under (1) below which settings is this? There is no context for this at all. .

The other questions are these:
1. am I able to use DLNA to stream to the XP10 as an audio output?
2. am I able to play from my NAS into the XP10 as an audio output?

I am afraid that using the Eddict Player with the Shanling ET-3 is more intuitive. Your guidance is much appreciated.

@Shanling As stated earlier, spent some time today just running through some stuff with the Eddict Player and the Onix Miracle. Let me know if the steps below (with corresponding photos) are correct as per the manual?

I suspect part of the issue may be that one would forget about the swipe gesture way of navigating around the control panel of the XP10. So, I did the following steps:

1. Swipe to the right to access the control panel
IMG_2179.jpeg

2. Once you click on the Settings icon, then it brings you to the next level menu, where there is the bluetooth icon

IMG_2180.jpeg

3. When you click on the bluetooth icon, it takes you to detailed BT menu, where you will see SyncLink switch. I noted that it was on by default.

Hi,

Even though I do not own the Onix Miracle nor have I used it, I think the wy you're doing is correct.
I would like to say that on the EH-3 you can also attach a USB Hub and then it will show both USB sticks attached to it.

As you can see, indexing is not really efficient because the sorting by artist or by album is not really easy to use.

So you should be able to browse by folder, which for me turned out to be the most convenient way to use Eddict (that I avoid).

The thing that is weird is that when you browse by folder, your SD cad should show up.
Are you sure it is formatted in a filesystem that is compatible with the Onix Miracle ?

Another thing I thought, since I had time on a Sunday afternoon, was to work through the Eddict Player on the XM10. Since I have the Eddict Player installed on the XM10 anyway, I figured one way to play via DLNA music my NAS drives would be to play through the XM10 as a local renderer. Well, it does work. :)

@Shanling : if there is a way to do so via the XP10 or another way that is more efficient, your suggestion would be most welcome. :)

Thanks! Yes, I am able to browse the folders of the USB drive. I think the difference in the ONIX Miracle may be because the XM10 is a separate module? Hence, I decided to try using SyncLink via the XM10 instead which I will post next with photos and steps. The file system should be fine since it is the default exFat format that the SD card came in. In any event, the XM10 has no issues reading the SD card :)

These are the steps I took to use SyncLink to link with the XM10. The advantage, as pointed elsewhere, is that you capture both the USB drive as well as files in the SD card in the XM10.

@Shanling : again, if any of the steps are not necessary or superfluous, please let me know. This will be useful for other users as well. Thanks!

1. First step was to open Eddict Player in the XM10, SyncLink and select SyncLink Server for the XM10.

IMG_2231.jpeg

2. Next, on my iPhone, I opened SyncLink and I selected to connect with the XM10.

IMG_2140.jpeg

3.If not previously, run a music scan

IMG_2199.png

4.When one goes to Local Music, one can see under Folders that it contains both the USB drive and the SD card in the XM10

IMG_2201.png

5. Under albums one can see the listing with albums (with album art). One thing to note is that it does take a while for the albums to load in full. What I did discover is that you do not need to run a music scan every time you connect to the XM10. However, the loading of the albums is something you have to put up with every time. @Shanling Not sure if this is something which can be fixed somehow by way of software/firmware iteration?

IMG_2200.png

6. See below the display on the iPhone Eddict Player as well the display on the XM10 when playing music via the Eddict Player.

While playing around with the NAS music last night, I discovered that in Eddict Player on my iPhone, what was being played via the Eddict Player on the XM10 was mirrored on the iPhone as well.

Which is great because I was able to control playback to a limited extent: forward, back, Stop and play. However, it does not seem to allow me to review the directory listing on the NAS itself.

Is this a capability that can added in due course to the Eddict Player @Shanling ? Because it would be most useful. Or does it already exist and I am not using the Eddict Player in the correct way here?

Hi,
About your question to browse by folder from the NAS, I do not have that problem here.
But I think that function if provided by the NAS not Eddict.

Here is a screenshot of what plex media server allows to do.

I can't add from the NAS used as smb server as edict doesn't connect to that. It returns an ID error even if login and password are correct. But that would of course allow folder browsing...

I reckon that although Shanling does the FW and software implementation for the Onix Miracle, the tuning itself is done by Onix. @Shanling : what is the division of tasks between Shanling and Onix for the Miracle? Thanks!
Shanling software team is responsible for the software side.

Overall design and audio design is done in cooperation between Shanling and Onix engineers.

@Shanling I am moving on to test out the Eddict Player interaction with the Onix Miracle stack. I am using the iPhone 14 Max Pro. Latest FW and latest Eddict Player.

This is from XP10, points 1 and 2 refer to the setting on XP10. Step 3 then points user to their smartphone.

XP10 has no Wi-Fi Connectivity, it cannot be used for DLNA or NAS.

@Shanling One more suggestion, if I may, for the Eddict Player: I may be wrong, but it seems that every time i connect to a device, is it correct that I have to perform a music scan? SyncLink doesn't copy the album art from the player. it always fetches from from online database over Wi-Fi, so it takes a bit of time.

The only issue I have with scanning via this method, ie. via ONIX XP10 is that only the USB drive will be scanned. It does not appear to scan or capture the music in the SD card in the XM10.

XP10 is standalone system from XM10, it has only access to a connected USB drive, it cannot see what's on MicroSD card on the XM10.

@Shanling : if there is a way to do so via the XP10 or another way that is more efficient, your suggestion would be most welcome. :)

Only XM10 has Wi-Fi connectivity, no way how to connect XP10 to NAS.
ON XM10 you can use Eddict player or any other Android player for NAS and DLNA.

I'm not sure on which device are you facing this issue? On XM10 you are unable to view the NAS or on your iPhone?
From Eddict player you should be able to view and browse your local NAS folders.

No worries. XM10 works fine for this purpose with Eddict Player then.

SyncLink doesn't copy the album art from the player. it always fetches from from online database over Wi-Fi, so it takes a bit of time.
Ah… I see. Noted.

OK. Then it makes more sense to do so from XM10 since XM10 can see both the microSD card and the USB drive.

yes, that is what I decided makes more sense.

From Eddict player you should be able to view and browse your local NAS folders.
On the XM10, I am able to see the NAS and its directories. I am asking about the iPhone on Eddict Player. :)

It should work as well as on the Android app. Can you send me in PM what error or any issues is the iOS app giving you?
Does the NAS browsing work fine on your iOS with other apps?
