Thank you for feedback on the New firmware compatibility.

It's only for Windows.

We do not make any changes to sound with firmware.

But we will request the older firmware file. (Please be aware that downgrading firmware is done at your own risk and will not be covered by warranty)

If you using our Asio Foobar package, please make sure you change the Asio for ONIX XI1 to DSD512. It should then work fine.
Will adjust the instructions on our Google Drive.
I did the dsd 512 setup guide but the sound is still jerky, very hard to hear. It keeps interrupting like a bottleneck

We do not make any changes to sound with firmware.
Something happened that changed the sound at updating firmware to 1.13. It was pretty obvious immediately upon listening. Upon further listening, I learned that the change to the sound is more drastic than I feared, and not for the better.

It's good that you provide the old firmware, but it's not good that there is a chance of the device bricking and nullifying the warranty because of that, just because I want to get back to the original sound that made me keep the product. I wouldn't buy it new now with the 1.13 firmware sound performance.

As a customer, I lose confidence in a company that says there were no changes to sound when my ears tell me there is an obvious change to the sound.

I'm also not the only one reporting the change in sound either and expressing dismay.

Hoping that you'll fix this in due time.

because of the problem of not being able to play DSD I went from 1.1.3 to 1.0.3. It's fine no problem, you should go back now

I didn't do the update... I don't do windows....
That said... I would think that reverting back wouldn't be that bad.

Per Shanling's comments... they said that they required the first update to the firmware be done at the factory due to an USB issue. (Going from memory)
Since this fix would already exist in the new release... reverting back shouldn't be an issue... unless they do something during the install process that requires some manual tweaking.

This is something Shanling could test internally and see if it breaks anything. However I do understand why they would say it voids the warranty.

In terms of the product... I'm seeing it shown in a lot of reviews for IEMs...

I like the current release, since I don't have any issues and don't really need the new features... I'm not upgrading.

Of course its only $109.00 USD so its not going to break the bank if you muck it up.

I have to ask though... if you did the upgrade... what happens if you live with it for a while?

Indeed the technical performances is a bit decreased
However the synergy and tonality are better now. Hopefully they will find the new formula to keep both exist in the next update.

Agree with this.
It's less spacious, less wide, not as ethereal. Imaging not as focused, separation less obvious between instruments. Things are happening more in front only, and not as much to the side of ears or inside head simultaneously as outside of head, because of worse separation.
It's less 3D in other words.

However, I find what I identify as improvements or increase in coherency, bass control, bass heft, bass depth, treble control (less splashy and sharp) and tangibility. As a consequence , I think tone and timbre is a little more full, pleasant and agreeable. I also believe I noticed a little more depth to the stage too, but again, less wide and more mono in presentation. The notes themselves are flatter and more static in movement (bad). Maybe the worst change is that the edge of the notes have been dulled. It's like a low-res veil covering the note so it never gets too close it intimate. It hurts the sense of micro detail and rawness of notes (obviously bad)

It's it an upgrade? Wouldn't say so. Bright tilted IEMs can benefit from these changes, but overall it's a downgrade.
Same felling on my side.
So thanks for @Shanling for provided the previous firmware. 0 problem for downgrading it
