Official Sony DMP-Z1 Thread

Hello there
Quick feedback (after 2 years and half of using it)

(it is hard to describre, but when tears flow during a listening session (and you do not know why), it transports you into the extraordinary nature of music (as well as other expressive arts), it doesn't mean anything, but it's always difficult to put into words a feeling/an experience).

This, 200%. The DMP-Z1 just creates feelings, that I never felt before, when listening to my music. I so want my player fixed, so I can just have those feelings again…..in the meantime, I now have a Shanling M30, which is very impressive…..I just want to compare the two.

Dear team,
as a recent viewer of this clearly pro 😎 thread, I felt responsible to forward the fresh info (confirmed via phonecall) about DMP-Z1 availability in Switzerland (overpriced though) with international shipping:
https://digistore.ch/fr/4710-8166-dmp-z1.html#/1-couleur-noir

All the best
"Depending on supplier availability" and yes, way overpriced and you need to add tax even if ordering from Europe as Switzerland is not in the EU

Picked up the VanNuys case with charger compartment.

Made the mistake of going overseas for two weeks and forgetting the charger 😅 this case should help me avoid that scenario

As final thoughts to my Review is that sony has really done a special device, they did really took the time to carefullt choose the components. To me its truly a device worth of having in onrs collection for a lifetime.

Recordings that apparently soubded bad or were poorly recorded/mastered, tuen to soubdlije i never heard them before and end liking them instead if wishing a new Hi-res audio recording

Don't think you can get the exact same one but if you go into the DMP pdf spec sheet available on Sony website, it gives you the serial number of the PSU. Good it and its just a cheap-is laptop charger. Readily available.

Edit, still got the screen shot..

And as for battery, I've got mine on loop with a burn in track with AC plugged in but not selected battery preferred so it won't be using any battery during burn in. Been unplugging / listening a couple of hours a night for the past few nights but away with work for 2-3 weeks and left it plugged in on loop. When I get back I'll probably drain battery to 20% then cycle it 20-80% a half dozen times then start using it in earnest. Fully plan to pair it with either a DIY LPSU with protection or just get an HDPlex 300w and run it off that unless I'm moving room.

Do you know if the pdf is still available or where I can upload it ? Because I’m thinking of making myself a
lpsu for my dmp-z1, and I would like to know the current requirement for the 19.5 VDC DC power supply. On your screenshot it is indicated VDC=19.5V, 2.35A and 45.8W, do you think values are correct ?

Got that from Sony UK support section for DMP, just a screen from the DMP docs. Also cross checked the charger part number online and got the same spec.

Hello all,

Can someone tell me the exact type of Barrel jack connector for 19.5VDC, I don't think it's Barrel jack (5.5mm OD x 2.1mm ID) or Barrel jack (5.5mm OD x 2.5mm ID). I tried to find this information on internet but I didn't find it...
