It was nice to meet so many friendly and helpful folks - that's the best part of the meets for me. No one's mentioned it yet, but Yikes's set up with the Oppo BDP-83 SE sounded great hooked up to his Woo GES gear. While I really don't absolutely need a new DVD player, except for the fact that it requires a hardware fix to get multi-regional capability, this is one piece of "mass market" gear I would jump at, based solely on its audio capabilities. Special thanks to Craig and his dad from Whiplash as well - I almost walked off with one Craig's LODs unintentionally (what could I have been thinking
) - and really appreciate his generous offer to let me take home some of his cool cables to try out (I declined as I cannot be trusted to return them - just joking about that last part!). The Grado PS1000s Craig had on display really do sound better than they did with the little amp at the meet (Craig acknowledged that too)....
Thanks to many others who were so generous in letting me/us try out their cool gear - in that regard, it was interesting to listen to the USB/SPDIF converter in the non-MOT room - I didn't really pick up on the difference with and without, but that may be, as the presenter told me, an "age" thing
I second the comment - the meet brightened up an otherwise gloomy day.
