Obscure Chinese DAPs

I mean the possibility to use it as dac because my pc has an integrated sound card and Hidizs can improve the output quality. Or other interesting functions like Hyby for controlling smartphone. At the same time, a good budget player like dodocool without spending so much, can do very useful.
Okay, I guessed you might have meant that. There aren't a lot of DAPs in the budget range that support that feature (as an external DAC). Only one of mine has that and that is the ATC HDA-DP20. I'm sure there must be some cheaper options that have the feature though.

Could try to reconvert your flac to compression 0 or 1 if it's any higher. the files will be a bit bigger but it'll be easier on the processor of your dap to decode the audio.

Now that is a great suggestion. I never thought of that as a possible reason that the HiFiMan HM700 rejects flac files I've made that even the cheapest $20 players accept. The HM700 is a few years old and it is quite possible that they were really pushing whatever inexpensive processor they chose so they limited how much compression would be acceptable. It'll be easy enough to just grab 1 track and make a set of flac files from it with varying compression levels as the only difference to test.
Quoting myself:thinking:… However I did want to answer with what was the problem and what fixed it. The suggestion that it might be the compression level wasn't the problem but it got me looking at the parameters used for the flac encoding I was using when doing my rips. Since I didn't quite understand that flac had its own style of tags when I set up the program I had selected the include ID3 tag checkbox because I knew that I wanted album info and covers to display on the tracks. So I was creating flac files that had both the native flac style tags and mp3 style ID3 tags. All the software players that I've used to initially test my rips and the bunch of newer mp3 players were smart enough I guess to ignore the useless (perhaps I should say redundant or wrong) mp3 ID3 tag but not the older HifiMan HM700 which just rejected them as out of spec. Unchecked the box and my rips are fine now. Of course that means I should go back and redo all those CDs to get them correct. At least I know what I'll be doing for awhile. :head_bandage:

You're right, I saw on my Xunsound XS-01 that FLAC compressed at level 4 or 8 are cutted at beginning by about 0.4-0.5 seconds, while FLAC level 0 are not cutted at all. Not all DAPs of course have this issue, but being FLAC level 0 only a bit bigger than higher levels I think it worths to always use level 0... example: converting a 29'30° WAV track - 298mb- in FLAC Level 8 it become 197mb, in FLAC Level 0 it's 205mb, anyway a good saving of space than WAV!

I've ordered an Agptek Rocker V2 and the Ruizu X22 (same as Agptek A22, solar charging ability) in the last couple days. Hopefully one of them shakes out. I don't think my Fuze is going to recover from its recent encounter with my 3-year-old son. Current status, in a box of rice (the Fuze, not my son)
Let us know when they arrive what you think of them, sound, quality, ease of use, and the pro and cons of the pair.....always good to hear different opinions.
I have just received the cheap Hommie j2, . 8gb internal....But you can add a micro sd card.... I have filled up the int memory with 111 cds.... And added a 16gb card which as about 114 cds on.More to add later.... It works very easy, sounds ok.. loads easy, folders easy to find and use, shows cd art work, .. As Bluetooth, etc....But always good to know about other players.
I also have the Agptek Imp. Too......which is also not bad.

That one looks nice too.

Seems like all the Agptek players (at least the ones with color screen) share virtually identical firmware which is fairly polished in terms of functionality, but not necessarily appearance. That's my general impression, anyway. The "now playing" screen on the Hommie looks identical to that of the recent Agpteks.

This one doesn't have a thread of its own, and while it isn't Chinese, it is pretty obscure and it has a low price tag, so I thought some of you might be interested in checking it out :)

Children on rice? Don't be absurd. Everyone knows they belong on toast.

Hi, I need to buy a new dap. I viewed dodocool DA106, Hidizs MKII, Xuelin iHiFi780 etc... I like they! I want to spend the right price to have a good player for playing lossless, for PC and any kind of music. What's the best choice for a budget not over 100 eur? Yes, I prefer minimal style, physical buttons, more working time, sd slot and so on. Thanks
Have a look on Amazon UK, and search for "Hifiwalker". The H2 at 129 GBP (Burr Brown DAC) and the HX mini DAP at 89 GBP featuring an AK4376 DAC.
