Obscure Chinese DAPs

As shown below(though cut off) why do they do that? I'm assuming Power/Enter is Play button so why is the FF/RW on the top right after the earphone slots. just keep Play FF and RW together. Also why is there a VOL button. Would like V+ and V- but I guess you have to press VOL then spin the Knob. Guess the knob does nothing when on the playing screen. Not sure if a deal breaker but really wish it either had volume buttons or the dial would just do the volume in now playing state. Better if the PLAY/FF/RW were together and the Return and then VOL were on the top side. 400 days of design and test yet that is the layout you settled on to control it? Knob only says 360 degree but nothing about pressing it which would be nice if that was Play. Knob also isn't in the most ergonomic place.

Yep, looks like another button + dial volume adjust...man I'm tired of seeing them do that. Everything else is interesting though.

If anyone wants to see the size of the Hidizs AP60 MKII compared to other daps:

(sorry I had to use flash - the Cayin is much prettier than it looks here)

Opus #1, xDuoo X3, Cayin N3, AP60 MKII, Ruizu A50

What do you think of the Hidizs AP60 MKII? Does it have gapless playback? How's it sound? How the UI? Inquiring minds and all that

Yes it has gapless..or I would not have bought it. UI seems ok...just getting used to it...have only had it since yesterday. I like that the navigation buttons are not touch...at first glance it looks like they are. I do not compare the sound of daps. All of mine sound fine to me. To me it is the headphones that make a noticible difference.

Here is a dedicated thread with tons of information in the first post.

This one combines a volume/back button. Great !

I've got an more obscure find I think. 6 buttons, a slide switch, 2 somethings on the front face, what more could you want for under $40?

BT? Wheres the BT :)

They inch forward and most all leave something out. How hard is it? It is 2018. How come I have an iriver and Sony from 2002 and I can switch to FM with a button, change EQ with a button, change playmode with a button, skip folders with a button, and bring up the navigation with a button but in 2018, in the age of super smartphones we have the dumbest DAPs!

I got an "updated for 2017" of one of the inexpensive AGPtEK players, like the Ruizu X02 or Benjie K9 without a speaker as a under $25 Black Friday deal. They updated the firmware to be more 'Western' in its usage. They moved up / down from the left / right buttons to the actual up / down buttons. I'll give them an "A" for intent. But they kept the long press the up or down button to adjust volume operation. So now when you try to scroll through the long list of artists when using file view after a few names scroll by the volume adjustment screen comes on. So a "D-" for implementation.

Interesting design. Found a picture with tagged button functions in another website

I wonder just what a rotation adjustment is and why it would require 2 buttons to do it?

Yup... I just posted this in the ap60ii thread...

I got this a few weeks ago... and love it.
I like the size, weight, UI (really no issues for me), and the sound is extremely good for such a dinky little device. Real gapless, plays just about everything... it actually plays everything I have, so I really don't know about the more obscure or ultra high-res DSD-type files.
Comparing it to my other DAP's and even to my system DAC, it really compares well, which truly surprised me.
And... it can use the M3u playlists that I create in JRiver Media Center. I love that!!
I really have no issues with this DAP... I have used it daily and it has not failed me in any way.
