Obscure Chinese DAPs

Sound of the NiNTAUS? It has a good sound, comparable to other sub $100 DAPS but it's line out signal lacks power.

I don't think so! The line out level is crazy high!

Have you checked in "Play Settings" "The Line Level" command?

By default the "volume Synchronization" option is selected and line-out output is limited by the volume set on the player, but you can select "-6 db" or "0 db" option for full level not modulable line-out output.

Regarding the two DAP choice, even if i prefere phisical buttons on Nintaus i will go for Hidizs AP60 for the better sound quaity and bluetooth option as well.

Hi. I'm looking for a DAP with a good interface and good sound in the the $50-100 USD range.
The Hidizs AP60, Nintaus X10, Xuelin 770c (With Rockbox), and maybe the Fiio M3 are some I have been looking at.
Any suggestions about other players or information about any of these players would be great. I am leaning toward the Hidizs or the Nintaus mainly.
This will be my first Hifi Dap. Thanks for any replies in advance. I already have Piston 3 earphones.

What is this mini amp a1? haven't heard of it.

It's made for sure by the same person as the Zishan, and it is the one that looks exactly like the Zishan.
A Class A thing.
There's some mention in one of these two threads somewhere back a bit.

Has anyone used the Walnut line out yet? I notice it is not fixed level but adjustable by volume dial.
From my trial it must be of a lower voltage?
=Directly into a rather exceptionally beefy portable amp, I had to near max the amp to get  going with what I was using for cans.
Hi Gain and  Hi Impedance switched on, volume on the amp very high. \and this portable amp puts out a full watt per channel.

I'll try it again with other stuff, but I did revert back to using the headphone out on the Walnut to feed the portable amp and it got back to where it should be and substantially louder results.

Not a real concern as the headphones didn't need the amp off this player, just surprised me a bit when the crazy amp became the hindrance in the chain.

I'm certainly not complaining, just rather curious.

I only tried the line out for 2 min but didn't like it, firstly it is going through the analog volume pot which makes no sense and secondly it is weak and not punchy sounding like the headphone out. I wonder if the line out is going through the opamp or straight from the dac, will try figure that out later.

Loving the headphone out, was rocking opamp THS4032 today, one of my top 5 favorite's in the walnut so far, very balanced sound.

I noticed the sonic difference also thought I was doing something wrong.

Seems my finger just slipped on the mouse and typed some info into ebay.
Just happened to be hovering over a THS4032.

BTW did you already list those top 5?

i wonder if it can be rewired to not go thru the volume pot?

I haven't tried all the opamps I want yet to make a proper top 5, and really the pairing with iem/headphone is key along with personal sound sig preference. I'm using 8 ohm IT03 and 60 ohm Koss KSC-75/Portapro with the Walnut, my favorite so far is still AD827SQ, but for some reason this opamp get's really hot in the walnut, so just to be safe I've been using the THS4032 which I really like also. THS4032 noise floor isn't as low as AD827SQ (with 8 ohm), it's like the LME49860 noise floor level, but it sounds way less coloured, far more balanced and neutral, but never sounds boring, just nice and transparent. Still many more good opamps I want to try.

I think you're right. I did have it set to 0 db but there may be a software bug because I changed it to Volume Synchronization then back again and now it's sounding like I expected it to.
