New TOL A&K DAP : the AK Ultima SP1000

Does anyone know if there is a way for the auto shutoff timer to work when Roon Ready is turned on? My shutdown timer is 30 minutes, but when I have Roon Ready turned on, it never seems to shut down. I come in every one morning greeted by a dead battery.

I unfortunately got a new M1 Macbook pro and all the USB-C/thunderbolt ports are used, so I can't leave the SP1000 plugged in. :frowning2:

As part of the Roon requirements, any Roon Ready device needs to broadcast itself on the network at regular intervals so that Roon Core sees it. This prevents the player from shutting down as it is 'active." I suspect this requirement of required regular broadcast intervals may change at some point as more portable devices become Roon Ready. As it is now, the vast majority of Roon Ready devices are plugged in all the time, so power does not matter much.

The only way to make sure the player auto powers off is to switch off Roon Ready in the settings menu.

Wow, much appreciated.
Went from 1.65 to 1.62 on SPKM and the dac bug is gone indeed.
The questions are:
Since when is it known that ver. 1.65 has a bug? Is this bug not known to astell&kern? Don't they have time to fix this bug? Doesn't astell&kern know how to fix this bug? Do astell&kern not care about the users? questions opon questions

Upgrading is the solution and not downgrading

Cheers to astell&kern

Anyone ran into SP1000 AMP connection issue?

I have tried 2 Amps (one from my friend and another mine as a secondhand product) and they behave the same on both of our SP1000s.

TL;DR: We need to push a bit harder on them to make sure they connect firmly, only then were we able to successfully connect our SP1000s with AMP. The music playback also stopped abruptly and randomly at any time.

More details: When music was playing, they would randomly disconnect. LEDs turned off abruptly, the music was still playing on SP1000 but no audio on all audio jacks. Seems that they only partially connected, the control signal using USB was fine, but the audio signals stopped syncing. SP1000 thought it's connected to AMP but no audio signal was received by amp.

The only solution we found so far is to press both devices to make them closer to each other horizontally at the same time, then they magically connect again. Couple minutes later they disconnected again. This cycle never ends.

The only suspicious thing is that the 5 golden metal knots on AMP sides are not completely level when I open boxed my AMP. I think they look similar on my friend's AMP. The left and right ones are taller while the middle 3 are lower. They are springy and I could literally press them downwards and they immediately sprang up once I released them.

I guess this might slowly push SP1000 upwards when they connect to each other?

It's weird that this issue was not brought up anywhere in this thread, but I heard that it happened on multiple SP1000 & AMP sets already, someone in Asia told me that this happened with his brand new sp1000 amp and he had to return it.

Hi guys, have a question about the longevity of a typical a&k players when it comes to the streaming services support.
I only use Amazon Music HD for streaming. Im aiming at the smallest dap possible and found the sp1kM 50% cheaper with a one year warranty.
I know this device is already 3 years on the market but i tested it some time ago and really liked the sound (even more than the regular sp1k, due to the warmish mids).
Now im using IBasso dx320 with tube amp13 and it sounds fantastic, better than the sp1kM basing on my memory but the size of the IBasso is killing me when im traveling.
I could accept a slight decrease in sound quality in exchange for a significant improvement in the comfort of use while traveling- the 1000M still has the best form factor and size on the market when it comes to daps imho.
I thought about the Kann Maxx but im not sure if it will have this characteristic "liquidity in mids" and i dont need such power tbh as im using only iems.

So the question mainly to @JasonNYC - how long AK is planning to support Amazon HD on the sp1kM? Any info would be very appreciated.
THX!

The SP1000M runs Android 6. There are no plans to upgrade it to a newer version of Android. As long as the Amazon Music app supports Android 6, it will work on the SP1000M. Even if Amazon stops developing the app for Android 6, older versions of the app that do support Android 6 can still be installed.

Next week there will be a firmware update for the SP1000/SP1000M that adds support for Macs running M1 chipset, improves Wi-Fi connectivity when using streaming services and a number of Bluetooth connectivity improvements, so there are still firmware updates being provided for it at this time.
