AFAIC there is no roon for the SP1000 yet unless you are just using it in dac mode. I then assume you are connected to a computer by usb. Just set roon to do the first unfold. The SP1k in dac mode does not do the final unfold. The software setting for mqa in usb mode is only for using the SP1k as a streamer to another dac. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I have asked for a mqa primer from AK on several occasions but nothing yet. I am looking forward to roon implementation.

Doing this will act as a reminder to also update the manual store version, which may require updating externally / downloading the newer version from the AK store (like the first install).

What version is the pre-installed Tidal supposed to be on? How does one update that?

This morning my sp1000 proposed me an update of tidal application i have installed manually few weeks ago. I
I entered my Google play store account information in the sp1000 and it's started to download the application.
May be I missed something by here, but I thought we could not update the application installed manually in the sp1000. But finally when I checked, looks like it was not updated. Dos anyone experiences that?

am I the only person who experience this ?

I'm not talking about the preinstalled tidal application. I know that one, but I'm talking about the tidal .apk application installed manually from : https://apkpure.com on the SP1000.

I accepted, and the google play store application was directly opened on my SP1000, I entered my account informations, then it started to download the new version on my SP1000, but after that nothing happened!!!

Same happened to me on my SP1KM. Just for grins, I attempted to update that way, but a Google Play store login appeared and I don't have a Google Play store account and just canceled out. Besides, I've always manually side-loaded the Tidal app, downloading from here https://apkpure.com/tidal-music-hifi-songs-playlists-videos/com.aspiro.tidal Note, this is different than the built in Tidal app, which allows for streaming only - that app is part of the auto-download updates from A&K and can't be side-loaded. Unless @JasonNYC says otherwise, I don't think it's an error and that the player is working as designed and that version of Tidal always has to be manually side-loaded. I'm not an Android OS expert, but my guess is it has to do with the Android OS version, how the OS is modified, OS permissions with Google Play Store and licensing. I've seen similar instances on other manufacturers DAPs.

It will not update that way and the latest version needs to be manually loaded. I will address in more detail tomorrow when I am back in the office and anything else outstanding from this weekend. It is a holiday here in the US today and purposely stayed offline this weekend to spend some time with the family.

I know what you are talking about and as I said, you need to reinstall the extra Tidal via the same process as the initial install. Check the version on your app, then check the version on APKpure. If you need to update, then go through the download / drag and drop process with the DAP connected to your computer.

It’s a pain in the backside, but we were all pre-warned and at least we get Tidal offline etc at last.

I've been using my sp1000 ss for a couple of weeks now. It's sounding better and better. The clarity and detail is immense but without being fatiguing. Blows the lotoo lgpt out of the water. Far better build too

Well said. Haven’t tried any of the lotoos, but the SPK SS is certainly a level above anything I’ve owned before and not fatiguing at all.

Interesting that you’re hearing an improvement after time as well. Won’t go down the burn-in rabbit hole, but I’m still being blown away on some tracks even after a month+ of listening to it, so definitely past the honeymoon / new toy syndrome period.
