Whats the difference in sound quality betweend SE out und Balanced out with IEM like Campfire Andromeda or Solaris. Do you heare a difference? I hear that Balanced out has hiss on high sensitive IEMs. SE out do not have hiss.

I use single ended with Andromeda S and had a brief listen with balanced out of SP1000M. I find that there is less hiss out of single ended, however there is some interference noise for a second when skipping track or when track is buffering on Tidal. I've tried on 2 SP1000Ms and two sets of Andromeda, green and stainless, same thing.

The inference is not there with balanced, but the noise floor is a bit higher than using single ended.

I'm wondering if there are certain balanced cables that can reduce the hiss without impacting the signature. Not too interested in using an IEM match.

Andro's are very sensitive and prone to hiss with most of the DAPs. Balanced out of SPK SS/CU/M has higher output power which not going to help when dealing with such sensitive monitors. The only way to reduce hissing in this case is to change output impedance using iEMatch. Have you tried it? I know you said you're not interested, but I know some people are OK and can live with a change it introduces.

Regarding other cables, most of the quality after market multi-conductor cables reduce the impedance (thicker wires, more wires - all cuts on the impedance), and I'm not familiar with any that raise it, unless they have plugs with some series resistors.

My AK120 is starting to misbehave (guess battery issues) and I am thinking it is time to replace it with a SP1000M. One issue I have with the AK120 is if the meta data of an album are not quite to AK standards everything ends up in Unknown Album /unknown Artist and basically an unplayable mess. How sensitive is the SP1000 with meta data and what is the best way to deal with that issue?

I want to use also my Abyss Diana with it and I assume that at least balanced it should work well. Anyone tried it? I am using a Mojo presently but if I would prefer not needing it (when traveling). The sound of the Mojo is nice but a little too polite (Chord told me they designed it that way compared to their other products for customer with less than perfect HP). Maybe the SP1000M can completely replace it also as USB Dac?

@JasonNYC since release of the qobuz 5.1.5 all my favorites are gone. A reset and a reinstall did not bring them back. Maybe I could ask you to report it to the qobuz team. I will switch back to 5.1.4. Wish they would test things better before release... Now, all offline content is gone again... Thank you.

Did you install the new version before deleting the old? If you delete the old, then install the new, it erases the offline content. I had mentioned this in a previous post a few pages back. You would need to install the new version first, which overwrites the old one and keeps all your settings. The old version then moves to the Open Service List below and you can then delete the old version by connecting to your computer and deleting it out of the OpenService folder. I have not tried 5.1.4 yet, but I saw someone else commenting on some weird things with that version on another thread also.

5.1.4 is perfectly alright. I know that offline content will remain when installing the new version over the old one. But as my favorites disappeared I needed to delete the new version again to switch back to 5.1.4. This killed my offline content.

The Qobuz Android app is definitely still a work in progress. I spoke to the Qobuz USA team when I was at CES. They are pushing updates out quickly to get bugs fixed. They have mentioned in a few of the version release notes that installing the new version could erase all of your previous content and settings.

I did find my SPKM can be sensitive to file data. I had many albums I originally downloaded as FLAC, then converted to ALAC using XLD. The dap would see the converted ALACs but wouldn't play them. Once I went back through and deleted all the converted file and replaced them with the originals, everything has been hunky dory. I've had maybe a half dozen daps that played the converted files fine; not the SPKM. @JasonNYC helped me with this issue and told me that AK players can be fussy about having everything exactly correct in the file data.

Tagging is everything. Getting a good tagging editor and running your files through it will show you BEFORE you install files if everything is correct. Otherwise, delete them, re-tag, and re-install them. I use XLD, which has a fairly basic tagging editor. There are better out there. The best I've found for a Mac so far is Yate, which is payware.
