As far as I know, you need an OTG cable (or adapter). The included usb cable is not one. It'll work for transferring files, charging, or using the AK as a DAC with your PC. But if you want to output digital from an Android USB to a DAC, I'm pretty sure you need an OTG cable, or an OTG adapter for that cable.

Does not work for me :frowning2: for some reason, I could not choose external usb.

I'm interested to know what you are connecting the M up to please. Afaik there is no such thing as USB C OTG I believe they included the ability on USB C V3. Micro connectors have OTG modes if specific grounding cables are connected to specific pins but USB C doesn't work this way.

There definitely are USB-C OTG cables. We have a bunch here in the office and my Samsung Galaxy S9 come with one in the box.

What I mean is this cable you have with S9 is a USB C version 3.1 cable. A USB C version 3.1 cable can be used just like any other USB C cable and will work to put your S9 into the correct mode. Unlike a Micro OTG cable which doesn't function like a normal micro cable.

Yes, once connected via USB, when you swipe down from the top, you should see the External USB icon lit up. Press it to enable USB Audio out. Once pressed, it should say in small letters under the icon "USB Audio" to indicate it is outputting audio via USB.

Thanks Jason, that worked. I was trying it via Line Out instead... oops!

Dear JasonNYC, can you please explain the way that MQA works on the SP1000.

I presume that the AK4497EQ is NOT an MQA DAC (please correct me if I am wrong) and so I imagine that if I have software decoding disabled it just plays back a 44.1KHz stream and if I enable software decoding it unfolds in software - is that correct?

What s the best way to listen to MQA on the player?

Thanks
Conrad
