gear: beyer t50p beats solo hd sennheiser mx980 cx870 radius ddm a lot more
dap: kenwood mg-f516
needs: more volume + better sq
will amping be an overkill?

T3>E7  Thats pretty easy call.  E7 has a V.2 coming out someday to deal w/ 'concerns'.

Yea I'd go with the E7 or the T3D..... but IMO I would say to save that money and get a better pair of headphones instead.

Depends with the t50p.  Out of my Zune HD I think they sound find without an amp (which is nice to not carry one more piece of equipment during the summer) but out of the ipod, I felt LOD + amp was good (like a 4-7% improvement).  But I don't really anything in the list that would get a big improvement with an amp.  But that's my 2 cents, ymmv.

I'd rather go with used Move/2Move/3Move, MiniBox E+ or some other top portable amp. There is used 2Move in FS section for $155+shipping, for example. Skylab mega thread is must read when buying portable amp.
