New Sony Walkman NW-A300 Series (Android 12)

Won't work with any of these - we need a 4.4mm Female to 4 pole 3.5mm Male.

Looks promising. But any chance that you have verified the pin outs for this? If this was made with Hifiman 4pole balance in mind - then the pin outs would be different.
Is it because it's not 4.4mm female? It's very easy to find 2.5mm balanced cables - I mostly use these as it gives the best flexibility with adapters, 3.5mm balanced adapters for 4.4mm are very rare (and are quite chunky too)

Yes, people used with the ZX2 as that also had 3.5mm balanced. It seems to work anyway, no messed up sound or fried DAP!

Ah yes, you can also do that as well. Yes, agreed that 3.5mm 4 pole balanced (with the correct pin out) is indeed rare, I just have having so many adapters (too many points of failure as well). Will just DIY my own adapter to have my peace of mind :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Ah I see. Good then.

Got to say the left channel wifi interference on sensitive IEMs is getting more annoying.. this player is a troublesome little rascal..

I'd class my 8ohm SE846 as sensitive? I get no interference. You mean with WiFi on ?

I don't think anyone messed with the 4.4mm balanced pin outs as its a Sony standard (Pentacon) like some manufacturers have with 2.5mm balanced ?

I covered in this post: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/new-sony-walkman-nw-a300-series-android-12.966467/post-17406327

My balanced cables are generally 4.4mm rather than 2.5mm (some are swappable plug type).

This is what I'm using, very compact. But I don't know if you guys have them on Amazon UK.

I totally get you. Was just basing it from the seller's sample photo - with a Hifiman SuperMini. That's how I came into questioning if its pin out is for Hifiman of just straight up conversion, mimicking 4.4mm pin out.

I'm just one of those guys that verify with a multi meter 1st before plugging it into anything. Might give this one a try as well.

I worry about putting too much strain on the 3.5mm port (lever action) if knocked with a solid adapter.
Thats a good point as it is thick and looks heavy

Mine is super light- Aluminum shell. But I also have a right angle plug connected to it I wouldn't like a straight plug on it myself. But it still sounds great without it, its not a huge difference. It's still has nice width and depth without balanced, I mean as long as your cans and iems can provide.
