Shanling M6 Player - New version with ESS DACs coming soon
Nov 1, 2019 at 3:47 PM Post #256 of 1,456
I gather the sound signature is of the M6 is M0 like or better, which would also be a good thing. So this is definitely on my consideration list. The unit would most likely replace both the M2S and a Cayin N5II; so then I would be down to an M0 and this.

Thanks.
I've read a couple of times now that the M6 sounds very close to the Cayin N6ii with A01 board. I do really enjoy my M5s but many IEMS benefit from the Balanced output. The Dual DAC in SE mode is very appealing, and I'm pretty sure I'll pull the trigger when it hit international markets. Any closer to announcing International release @Shanling ?

We were talking about music apps for the M6 and that discussion ruled out one of them.... Correct thread

No, not you. :grinning: I posted in the wrong thread and then edited it to say that instead of leaving a weird non sequitur in here.

Shanling; what is the plan to support Amazon HD with this unit? Especially interested if there is a way to download tracks to the unit for offline listening.

I know software team is putting a lot of testing on Amazon HD, apparently it's becoming popular in Japan, so our Japanese distributor is putting high priority on this.

We hope to start some smaller international release in second half of November.

It would be great if we can download music to the unit for offline listening. I know that Tidal seems to limit that to built in memory. If Amazon has that limit; I hope Shanling could create a "Pro" or "Plus" version with built in memory for that purpose. But since Amazon seems to encrypt the music files perhaps they will allow downloads to removable media storage.

If you had to create a second version; I would also vote for adding a second SD card slot. But in an ideal world the unit will just support Amazon offline as is and then we are off to the races.

If you ever need more reviewers just let me know. Keep up the good work.

Erm... I do hope we can use Tidal offline with the files stored on an SD card!

M6 has build in memory(32GB) and Tidal Offline works with it. I didn't check how it works on Amazon music yet.

This is tidal app option. You can choose.
This was in reference to potential support for Amazon HD. Right now the audiophile streaming service had been Tidal; I predict in one year we will be talking more about Amazon HD than Tidal. Mostly because a big company is behind it.

I think the Amazon HD files are exactly the same as what you might purchase at HDTracks (which is a good thing).

Linsoul has a listing for the M6 - what I presume to be the international version. Not available to order yet, no date or anything, but a few more pictures. Nice.

From my chat with Linsoul on their website literall 2 minutes after your post:
Me: When will the Shanling M6 be available?
LS: we have the Chinese version not international version
Me: Wow, that was fast! Thanks

Shanling has said that Chinese vendors will not have the international version..... They have also said they expect limited release of international version mid to late November
