Shanling M6 Player - New version with ESS DACs coming soon
Oct 30, 2019 at 4:31 AM Post #242 of 1,456
Important update regarding international version of M6:

There will be two different versions of M6, one dedicated for Chinese market only(currently selling) and other, marked "International version", for rest of the World. Identical in hardware, but with different firmware.

International version will have sticker on back of the box, under serial number. Please be very careful when purchasing from any Chinese sellers and be sure to confirm it's international version.

At current time, we expect that firmware will be incompatible between versions, that you will be unable to install international version firmware on unit for Chinese market.

you mentioned that
"1. Google play not available right now, but working on implementation."
So will it be available in the current version of m6?

You are not right

@Shanling
Will you at least upgrade currently sold units to 64bit OS(Android 9.0)?
Is it possible to reverse "prev" and "next" buttons functionality?

M6 was released only to Chinese market and even our Chinese dealers are not allowed to sell it on international platforms yet.
If some seller decided to sell it to international market ahead of time without our approval, it's unfortunate situation for the customer that choose to buy it ahead of release. We always advice to wait for international release and purchase from local distributors.

There will be continuous updates to both versions of M6, just stating there will be some differences between these two versions. We are not exactly sure about extent of these differences at current time, still dealing with all the licensing.

The emerging consensus from the reviews I’ve seen seems to indicate that the M6 bests the M11 and M11 Pro sonically (as well as their flagship M5s). Even if it’s only by a matter of degrees. That’s perhaps a bigger incentive for me to migrate from my current DAP. I want to see how Shanling solves their firmware issues before I switch though. I find Android, no matter who's working with it, requires a lot of effort to get the platform stable and feature-rich, despite all the promises of an open, blue sky experience offered by the OS.

The main problem I see for now is 32bit Android. Some of apps (non-necessary apps) didn’t install or work properly.
Tidal works, neutron works, apkpure works, chrome works, software buttons works, WiFi works...i don’t know what I want more...
A! Acc support for bt-receiver.
Today I made one test: low gain, vol 40, neutron, flac 16/44. I got about 8h playback time from balance 4.4 output

Sorry, wrong thread!
We were talking about music apps for the M6 and that discussion ruled out one of them.... Correct thread

Shanling; what is the plan to support Amazon HD with this unit? Especially interested if there is a way to download tracks to the unit for offline listening.

Has anybody had experience using the unit with Apple Camera Connecting Kit? I use the latest version of that with my M2S and it works well.

I like the fact that the unit offers both 2.5 and 4.4 for balanced and my experience with Shanling has been generally excellent. Even if the M2S is officially dead (no thanks to HiBy). Of course the M2S is a true workhorse and I really can't ask for much more in terms of support. In the past I have owned the original M2 and also the M1; the M2 sounded good but was buggy and the M1 was solid (though even warmer than the M2S to my ear).

I gather the sound signature is of the M6 is M0 like or better, which would also be a good thing. So this is definitely on my consideration list. The unit would most likely replace both the M2S and a Cayin N5II; so then I would be down to an M0 and this.

Thanks.
