Has anyone else had issue with click in on the wheel. Been happily using my M0 for a few months but now the long press won't turn it on. If I plug in usb it will automatically turn on. Any possible fixes or do I need to send it in for repair?

Button is soldered to PCB, so if you are not quite skillful with soldering, I would recommend to contact your seller for warranty.

And what exactly is going on with the wheel? When you press it, do you hear click or not?

OGG -Q10 is the best format if you really need to go lossy :)

I converted to ogg Q9 as I tried Q10 and didn't hear any difference with the M0 and it saved a little more space. I think it depends on the quality of the tracks as my oldies converted to ogg Q9 compared to original flac sound no different. Sticking with flac for 1990's and later tracks for the most part. Q9 is 320 Kbps and Q10 500 Kbps so not a huge difference especially on a $140.00 DAP at least to my ears. On something higher end maybe I would hear a difference especially on higher quality tracks.

Well, Q9 and Q10 are pretty close to each other. It would be complicated to tell them apart with M0, so it can save space, but since I manage my playlist in such a way that I don't usually replace files, I'd use Q5 and keep the microSD for future upgrades :)

I think mqa is a solution looking for a problem. With the bandwidth available nowadays I cannot see its usefulness.

Actually if you believe the propaganda behind MQA it is about more than high quality compression. According on posting from back in 2017 "MQA is a new digital music format, designed to deliver high-resolution sound at a much reduced bitrate, typically close to that of regular CD. The name Master Quality Authenticated gives a hint to its second selling point—authenticated, an assurance that what you are hearing is a digital clone of the original encoded file, and not one that has been degraded en route. A third aspect of MQA promises to deliver sound that is not just better than CD quality, but superior to a comparable high-res music file based on traditional PCM (pulse-code modulation) encoding, which has been the standard for CD-quality audio for decades."

Kind of sounds like the guys hyping HiRes audio but it is suppose to eliminate sources of noise and distortion introduced during the recording process like MIC noise etc... I haven't had the chance to hear any MQA encoded music yet with the right gear but I have talked to people who have and they claim the differences can be quite noticeable, especially when applied to older master recordings. So it isn't just about streaming audio though ultimately it will take wide spread support from the likes of Tidal and other streaming services for MQA to take off. Sony, and Pioneer/Onkyo are on board and offer hardware support in their DAP's and Sony DAP's can't stream. A bunch of audio gear manufacturers for DAC and amps and even CD players are getting involved now. Here is a link from whathifi.com that mentions some of the manufacturers and products starting to support it. https://www.whathifi.com/advice/mqa-audio-what-it-how-can-you-get-it

It will be interesting to see if it really takes off but alot of manufacturers are balking at the licensing fees involved and it doesn't work on older gear so having buy new stuff just to support it could be a tough sell. I know I won't be upgrading my home system any time soon just to support MQA.

Shanling doesn't support MQA, currently we have no plans to bring it to our players, so I think we can end the MQA discussion now, before we start posting tons of articles discussing how big scam it is or isn't.

BTW, during recent Double 11 sales both M0 and M5s were best selling Hi-fi portable players in their price range! It actually sold so well, that we are currently out of stock on M0, meaning its availability during Christmas might be little bit tricky. So if you want one, go and buy it as soon as possible. We are rushing another run, but that will be arriving to shops just few days before Chsirtmas :frowning2:

Congratulations and I am not surprised given what the competition is offering against these two DAP's. Honestly there is no real competition for the M0, I mean the Fiio M3K not even a blip on the radar. Everyone of the better known manufacturers outside of Sony and the A50 series is shooting for the moon price wise right now. I mean there is a dealer in Toronto selling the Cayin N8 for $4300 CDN. Shanling really has the chance to do very well right now given what the competition is offering

Completely agree - congrats to @Shanling - they deserve the success they've had with the M0 :beerchug:

On that note if anyone wants a complete bargain amp3 in the uk have a box opened one for £77.23! Titainium. Been using mine most of the day at work with my Custom Art Fibae 2's and very nice it sounded too. Now hurry up Shanling please and add audiobook/bookmarking support so I don't have to take in my brick of a hiby R6!

By the way, if anyone is looking for a nice budget-friendly travel setup, I highly recommend pairing the M0 with the VE Monk+ earbuds and using the "Party" EQ preset. It brings in a decent amount of bass (although the actual bass quality isn't super) which in turn balances it better with the mid-centric signature of the Monk+. But, I think I might just prefer the "Headphone" preset as it seems to be the most balanced sounding and avoid the slightly "hollow" sound of the "Party" preset

The DAC in this player is phenomenal! It is also very well implemented.

Really I guess you could say the DAC/Amp is very well implemented since they are on the same chip. Probably why the M0 is so darn quiet as there is no real path between the two unlike most DAP's with separate DAC & Amp chips.
