New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil

I would say I go to Schiit.com and add Yggy and Rag to my cart on an almost weekly basis.  One of these days I might have the balls to actually press buy

You may as well - both are back ordered so you have plenty of time to back out but at least your in the queue.

Might as well do it, by the time you get the Rag you'll have retired and be living a life of luxury.

Yes I'm beginning to get bitter.

It should make you happy to note we have a bunch of Ragnaroks on the burn rack for shipping this week. We should be able to clear up the backorders with reasonable speed (ask Alex for more detailed estimates.)

Next up, Yggdrasil.

I don't even get enough usage out of my Modi/Magni as i would like.  The rag/yggy fascination is simply because it is affordable and so damn enticing.

A note from my Yggy experiences is that the quality of the usb power feeding the yggy can have an impact on the sound quality, but that the quality you get from even a noisy usb port is still amazing. I was running a cheap linear power supply into a ppa card to feed the Yggy, but after returning to my normal motherboards usb I actually prefer the less "sharp" sound. Bass quality is slightly hazier but I'll take the musicality that is gained. I might pick up a wyrd to test in the future.

And yeah this is good enough to be end game, at least for me. I know my headphone endgame is a pair of 650s and a nice tube amp, but that's for the future.

Respect.

No respect needed. We're quite a bit behind on delivering Ragnaroks, due to (insert list of excuses that most people aren't interested in) and currently still scrambling to respond to demand for Yggdrasil. We're doing everything we can to ensure that our top-end products aren't in perpetual backorder, but it will take some time for us to get it all sorted. Apologies for the current situation!

Yep!

Given the 4-day burn, those may not start moving until next week, though.

Thanks for the update. I ordered the Rag in March. Glad to hear the board house is providing!

I am interested in the yggy except for the warm up time, I dont like leaving electronics on when not in use. From this thread, am I getting it right that the yggy needs to be left on 24/7, otherwise you get a harsh treble?

yggy had no harsh trebles, especially compared to most if not all modern non-tube dacs..

The difference in sound, is more like, from normal top level dac sound, to invisible "you-are-there" type sound..
still, it will not have a tube/analog smoothness, which is what is meant by the trebles.
Many of the best dacs implement tubes to give more holographic and organic nature to their dac, which makes them musical, but the dac chip portion itself may or may not be as truthfull to the source as the yggy.

Would be of interest to know what components you used yggy with.
I am assuming some tube amp but unknown if you used a preamp.
Only know you used yggyy on single ended outputs...

Also I know that a tube amp on yggy sigle-ended outputs can still beat out a top solid state amp on the balanced outs, because I herd it happen with my own ears..
