New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil

According to my calculations, that would still be more expensive. Schiit charges a lot for shipping and taxes would be huge

Right - so your local dealer isnt paying shipping and taxes ? I think you've solved your own puzzle - time to ante up.

Dude I was not complaining. I simply answered your bloody question. Schiit-Europe is still the cheapest option

I think FayeForever actually posed the question re why you dont order directly from Schiit, although I did raise the issue of shipping, taxes and import duty for those of us outside the US a few pages back.

A question regarding Ragnarok price in Europe. Original price has always been 1699 $, as stated in the Schiit web page. This is the situation:

1) 2 months ago it was selling for 1730 € IIRC.
2) Now it is selling for 1890 €, 160 € ~ 170 $ more???

WTH happened? I can understand 1700 €, but 1890 € for no reason is a different matter.

Good time for Europeans to buy European! Here in Africa, we are stuffed either way, but the weather is mighty fine!

Worst thing about the dollar currency gains is that HD Tracks are no longer affordable. Less music = less happiness..

Good thing you've already got all your existing music to fall back on

Schiit are very very strict regarding everything, including how they receive payments I wanted to make an order for the Rok but because Israel has problems with Credit Cards (you can't order on unlimited credit even if you do have the money in the bank) + transferring money to PayPal as I understand it is not an option in Israel either. I bought my Vega through a bank transfer.

But the damn USD is sky high now again which is also a problem...
But yeah I'm going to get the Ragnarok - Very Soon^(Trademark) unless I can find a different amp with speaker output (and not a tube amp, it seems like tubes don't like living long over here)

The problem is that at 1900 € there are other great alternatives to Ragnarok on par with sound, but with less features. That's not a problem if you only use it for headphones. So 1.700 € is justifiable, but 1.900 €... way too much for now, depending on your usage.
Let's suppose 10 units will be sold to europeans @ 1.730 €. Total earning: 17.300 €.
Now @ 1890 €, let's suppose 2 people pissed off for the price increase will look elsewhere (high chance), so total earning: 1.890 x 8 = 15.120 €.
Conclusion: better to sell 10 Ragnarok @ 1.730 € than 8 Ragnarok @ 1890 €!!!

I was going to buy it @ 1.730 € along with two friends, so three units in total, but at these prices we only have two options:
- Waiting for it to reach 1.700 € - 1.750 € again.
- Buying something else, less features but same sound.
This means 5.190 € will be missing.

I'm disappointed.

Some of us need to mellow out and stop listening to everything so critically - one of the things I've always enjoyed about the Hugo is that it doesnt murder late night YT vids. I shudder to think what the resolution is here, but it's listenable - YMMV.

So true. I have ruined Nabucco because I use it for all of my critical listening. I went through so much gear that it's actually mildly unpleasant for me to hear it now. Friends don't let friends listing to good music critically with HD800's...

The best and only choice would be to bring Ragnarok EU price back to the reasonable 1.730 €, problem solved. And more earnings from the once disappointed guys.

Great - now I'd like the Metrum Pavane to be bought back to a more reasonable 3500 Euros - can you put in a good word for me at a local dealer ?

Timing is everything.

We all know the charts, simple problem is that now that price raised, another great suspect is that very hardly it'll come back to 1.730 €. Oviously it isn't shiit fault if global economy goes bad (or not?

), but raising the EU price so much when in U.S. is still being sold @ 1699 $, pisses me of. Like I said, we'll wait for the price to drop, or we'll stick with the other great amp, even if not integrated. Apparently a win-win situation, but maybe someone is willing to pay 1900 € = 2000 $ for Rag in EU. Not us. But case is closed.

1890 EUR is roughly 9% higher than 1730 EUR
The exchange rate today vs. 2 months ago: the difference is roughly 18% ...
