New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil

I'm curious to see how Yggy will compare to other high-end DACs - Jason Stated something about the uniqueness of the R2R no-digital-filter approach. Is this designed mostly as headphone DAC or also as a competitive speaker DAC? The DaVinci for example is R2R digital filter less. If yggy is a top-end speaker DAC Schiit might have a hit with the loudspeaker community. (Though personally I've never understood the need for a $20,000 DAC for speakers when many sub $1000 headphone DACs can perform better)

My thoughts precisely. Though of course, you can't pair your $130,000 loudspeakers with a lowly $1000 DAC! That would be insulting to the wallet- I mean speakers!

How would it be insulting to the speakers?

$130,000 speakers can be just as good as speakers for $1000, diminishing returns hits hard on this amount (130k).

And DACs didn't learn to make tea yet, sorry mate... Maybe next gen stuff will make you tea, not this one.

Perhaps you didn't recognize the sarcasm font.

R2R designs are usually found in higher end dacs. Lampizator Level 6 and above are R2R designs. Also the attention concentrated on the power usually is also found on higher end dacs as well.. and you all know the Fpga clocking used with the ygg is found on higher end dacs recently as well.. chord line dacs/ps audio ds/JR aeris etc..

On paper it looks real good but like the sales person Jason said, specs have nothing to do with how it will sound. :)

specs used in ygg are usually found in 5k + dacs. Hope it sounds as good as it specs..

I'd love Schiit even more if they charged $1701 instead do $1699. Why cut me out of owning a real €1700 amp?

Surely you can convert the price to a currency that meets your needs? :p
