Hey guys,

My X1 is up for sale here if anyone is interested.

I'd like to upgrade the cable on my X1's - the V-Moda Audio Only cable that appears to be the standard replacement for the X1 is too short for my needs.  Can anyone recommend another high quality-for-the-buck cable in the 8-10 ft. range?  Budget is $50 max.  Prefer 1/8in / 3.5mm plug.

Well I did some reading in the Mad Lust Envy gaming thread and decided to order the Mediabridge cable from Amazon.  I preferred the looks/specs of the Fisio S-Flex cables (on Amazon UK), but it didn't look like shipment to the US was possible.

Rim, You can easily make a nice cable to under $15 and it'll probably be better than anything Amazon might offer.

Even save more with Canare mini star quad L-4E5C. Strip it down with a razor and sleeve in your favorite color/pattern 550 paracord, and you've got a quality cable that's light and flexible.

You can get everything you need in single cable quantities off eBay.

You can even invest $30 on some cheap soldering tools/supplies, if you don't have them already to get the job done just fine and be ready to make some more in the future.

Been enjoying a bit of Chris Cornell on the 'ol X1's in his various incarnations. Man, these things X1's sound good... and so do these tunes on them!

I really don't know where the myth of these cans not needing amplification came from. I am typing from an ASUS G73SW with realtek audio and it turns into a distorted mess at higher volumes, and the base volume is very average. Even my gf's 4yo Macbook Pro was better for this. And from my Ipod Touch 4 they also don't reach very high volume.

I feel like an idiot for believing what I was told just like that.

You know, easy to drive from something at least remotely made for headphones... Realtek it is not.

I suspect the same applies to the ipod touch then? Because I also mentioned that.

If neither of these things fall into the range of things that supposedly are sufficient to amp something that I was told 'needs no amplification to shine' then I consider myself misinformed.

My re-400's sound a lot better off these. Fortunately I have an Aune t1 under way.

Well I used the little Clip+. That thing must be more powerful then as it had no trouble driving it.
I'd blame Apple but I'll leave that to someone else

I really want to like these cans. But they keep failing no matter what I throw at them. If the Aune T1 doesn't do it, I'll sell them and keep my Senns HD600 for the new amp.
