Hi all, new to the forum. Been a 'phile of some sort forever it seems, now that I've retired and downsized headphones make the most sense for me. Started with Shure SRH1540, figured out how to EQ 'em. Tried a pair of Beyerdynamic DT1770 Pro MkII, not really my cup 'o tea. Now enjoying a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7b, no EQ needed so far.

Front end: iFi Zen DAC v2 and iFi Zen CAN amp. Qobuz.

Evening all,

I have recently returned to an interest in decent headphones/earphones after a few years of not being particularly bothered so I am interested to see that not an awful lot has changed in the technology since 2003 and simultaneously that quite decent gear is available for very reasonable money.

Having tired of the sound from AirPod Pro and various other Bluetooth units I have returned to my Etymotic HF2 and a pair of ER3XR, both of which produce acceptably good results using a small external DAC with my phone.

Welcome to Head-Fi,

One change that is quite interesting since then is the upward trend of tube gear adoption by newer audiophiles, and thus increased options from manufacturers. I am a late comer to the tube game, but I am glad that the cost of entry has lowered, and the availability has increased. Looking forward to seeing you around in the various threads on this forum.

That is most interesting...valve gear is (or was) absolutely lovely but also power hungry but I feel certain that a reasonable thermionic pocket-portable headphone amp could be produced with current battery and buck converter kit. The tiny cold cathode Soviet valves I used to use are very much not available nowadays but I wonder if something similar is currently produced...
I shall investigate.

In the meantime I am very much enjoying the performance from these tiny USB C DACs like the Apple one which drives my ER3XR very well indeed.

Hello, I'm Cosyne from Indonesia. I've been on this hobby for quite a while but until a year ago I only decided to dived down deeper, ending up to owning like 30 differents IEM and during these times Head-Fi really helped me to choose IEM and headphone. I already did some reviews on facebook for while and now I decided to have my own contribution here too and be part of the community. Currently using Dita Project M and Hifiman HE-4XX with iFi Zen DAC v2, iFi Hip DAC and iPod Touch 6 and source, and Verus Magni 4 x Modi 4 Rhodium as testing cable too, currently having my eye on the Sennheiser HD660s.

(yes, cosyne is an intentional typo of cosine)
