Welcome!
Been around here since '06 - and upgraded many evolutions in terms of systems w/tube amps in particular, 650 being warm, and you're right a good analytical rather than soft warmer dac in our used market would be my initial goal with your existing setup, IMO. Buying used is solid advice with good or better dacs which will make a world of difference in presentation appreciation.
Then, research with a grain of salt of opinions, but look at others systems matching yours to get a general direction to follow in terms of what to expect in upgrading "YOUR" sound - source and specific recording is all important to satisfaction.

-Enjoy your journey, it's a wonderful learning and shared experience - Obligatory Head-Fi axiom, "sorry 'bout your wallet" lol
Thanks Finbad for the detailed advice. The axiom definitely applies in my case lol. Just dreading that moment when my wife adds up the value of all the audio toys purchased!
Schiit Multibit is intriguing me at this stage.

That is a very good piece and a solid company - Warm is a very nice set-up, indeed. sorry I misquoted your cans as 650's which I'm familiar with ergo my analytical dac direction for ya - I'm not familiar with the 660's as I left off at the AKG-701 & 702 and Beyer Dynamic DT-990's not having a bass resolving DAC at that time, although the 990's are bass intense enough.
So, now we get to music preference(s) or all arounders - Headphones just are not satisfying enough without a much higher $$ Dac imo & E - as always you are the deciding factor as to what is more important and satisfying enough v. cost.
I'm more satisfied with great midrange and less than sibilant H Frequencies with soft bass which is achievable at a much lower price point!
- Oh, and we learn to sneak toys into our homes and then, " I'll send it back dear, but the restocking fees and shipping are your call, dear". works like a charm here :relaxed: lol j/k

Hi everyone, Mike here. I’ve had a pair of Senn HD598s powered by an original Schiit Magni/Modi stack for a loooooooong time and figured it was time to do some deep reading and put together my dream rig. Thanks to all who post their impressions on amps, DACs and cans here as it’s incredibly useful as a starting point.

Cheers and happy listening! 🎶🎧

Hello, I'm Jon. Great info here. I'll be mostly lurking. Equip I got is: Audeze LCD-2C, Dunu SA6 MK2, Schiit stack Modi Multibit 2/Magni+ looped in to a BBE 282 Sonic Maximizer for my EQ. Also got a Topping A30 Pro that I haven't used yet and a Topping D30 Pro that I purchased used from a member in the classifieds. Seems like a great community. See you guys around, nice to meet you all!

Hello, I'm Ezra, I've recently fallen down the rabbit hole of audiophile (entry-level) headphones for gaming and PC music. I'm running an H6Pro headset and a Fios K5 Pro, but I'd like a little more. I am searching for an entry-level stack looking at Schitt, SMSL, and Topping, and better headphones, contenders are Beyerdynamic PT990 Pro and HD600. Hope to learn some things from the more experienced people here. Have a great day!

Hi! I'm a new member, altough being a reader of Head-fi for years now. I've decided it was time to join you all.
I've been mainly a user of speakers for many years, altough I use headphones here and there. I have a long cherished Sennheiser HD580, slightly modified. But it was only in 2015 that I discovered all what they could offer when I've got a new amplifier: the Audio-gd NFB 1A.
I listen mainly to classical music, so I'm always trying to find if reviewers also listen to classical tracks. There is no better genre to assess certain qualities of headphones and electronics.

Hey folks,

Newbie here, getting back into spending just a little bit all of my money on audio gear. So far I've managed to behave myself and have only bought a pair of ATH-M40X's for the office and most recently some Salnotes Zero's (which I've been extremely impressed with).

Next up for me I think will be a modest DAP, the Surfan F20 is readily available in my country and its fairly cheap so I'm thinking that's a good place to start. I'm hoping to not have to upgrade it for at least a little while, since I'll try and stick to IEM's for the most part.
