Hi all...I'm new as of about 2 weeks ago (I think). I love all different kinds of music. I can appreciate basically anything outside of country and gangster rap.
I've been doing research, driving myself crazy looking for a good introductory pair of headphones. Preferably earbud type headphones. I have the Bose Bluetooth headphones (not the noise cancelling ones) which I like. I don't have any amazing high quality music or equipment to deliver it. I just want to get the best sound for me and I am open to suggestions. Thanks and nice to be here.
Check out the Shozy Zero iem when you get a chance. Neutral sound but still engaging and its like $50? nor sure how much you want to spend but I feel like it checks a lot of boxes. Its what I usually tell people starting out.

Take care!
Hi. Just making my first post. I read the posts & reviews from time to time but mainly joined to respond to an existing thread and thank a poster who solved a problem for me.
Thats very cool of you to give back after you found the post to be useful. I first started out here looking for headphones for a gaming set up. I ended up getting an account and plan on never leaving ha.
First post introductions, hello! Grew up with some pretty nice Sennheisers due to my mom being a bit of an audiophile (yay hand-me-downs), then went through a decade of "I'll just wear whatever until I can afford something nice." Now I can afford something nice, started researching what headphones to buy and here we are.
Thats awesome your mom had a pair of Senns... My family was always into music but it was never really accesible to me as a kid. Glad you got hooked up at an early age! (pun not intended :)
Hello all. I'm a learning electronic music producer from the UK, with an interest in the best selection of headphones to mix and master on (yeah I know It sucks to do it on headphones - but my living arrangements leave me no choice - we can't all afford a studio)
Depending on budget, the HD800 is well know for being incredibly transparent and also neutral. Unless you needed closed back I think you will be hard pressed to do better? Headfi family, please feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
New member to the forums and looking to discover a wealth of knowledge. I recently embarked on my newly found obsession. I have a set of PX's and RE00's from Massdrop, and recently acquired a Fiio Q1 MkII. My main source of of music from my Galaxy S8 and Spotify Premium. I have a huge collection of .mp3's from my old iPod days as well. I have found that the functional use of a phone + AMP/DAC isn't as great as I'd like it to be. It makes phone functions cumbersome with the amp/dac hanging off it. I joined the forum to start my research of purchasing a DAP and hopefully find a good used one from a member.
"Big gulps huh?............... Welp, cya later!"

In regards to your post, I would think of wether streaming music is important to you? If it is, that cuts a ton of possibilities out if you want a DAP. If you don't care about that and just want to add your own music to it then your options go up a ton.

Let the specific DAP thread know your budget, or create a thread letting them know.

Have fun here, and love the name!

Hello to the Head-fi community!

Forewarning, I'm mainly accustomed to reading forums, I haven't had any level of activity in forums since GBAtemp around 2009.

I've always had an interest in audio, poor sound quality always has irritated me.
I had big expectations for the Ossic X, when that fell through, I found it difficult to commit to another similar product, and almost went for a set of Audio Technica AD500X, as a last moment change of heart I cancelled my order, and instead ordered what looks to be some of the most impressive headphone techology to date, a set of Audeze Mobius.

Truth be told, I had hoped to get in on the Mobius thread that I've been watching for some time, while it's still active any how.
Given the posting privileges required to post to that thread, it looks like I'll need to be content with just reading.

Thanks for having me, looking forward to learning an all manner of new knowledge!

Shryquill
I cant wait for the Mobius... I backed it with a friend at $250. I got to hear it at a headphone meet I held recently. A headfi member was nice enough to bring it in and I got to audition it with both music and the movie "Casino Royal". It was beast!!

Hello, all. New joiner. Really enjoying the site. I've been focusing more on listening to music at my desk rather than in the family room where the bigger gear lives. I started off with a pair of Sennheiser HD650s driven by a Benchmark DAC2 DX and fed over USB by iTunes on my iMac. During the past few months I've traded the Sennheisers for a pair of Focal Utopias, which are just fantastic. I also bought into Roon and got a Sonore ultraRendu, UpTone LPS-1, and SGC sonicTransporter i5. Very happy with the results. Easy and fun to use, and everything sounds great. Looking forward to learning more...

Hi everyone! I'm an amateur hour audiophile turned music producer. I would say so often while listening to music that I just wish artist X would change this and artist Y would change this that one day my musician friends told me to just do it myself. These days, I've given up the finer minutiae of sound systems for the straightforward sound of something I can get work done on. When I do have spare time to listen to music for fun (which isn't much), I take whatever I can get my hands on. Though I have a decent entry-level system I cobbled together in my college years, that just collects dust most of the time these days. I'm pretty open to any kind of music, though I primarily produce House and IDM, and I master primarily IDM that comes out of the IDMf Netlabel (you keep track of all that?). But really, I grew up on classic rock, punk, metal and country, I make EDM, I do work for guys in the more experimental branches of EDM/IDM, and I now listen to classical in the car on my morning commutes and jazz in the evenings.

My primary working system is a schiit Fulla 1 going into a pair of Hifiman HE-400is, my older system has a Sony SACD player, shiit modi 1, and a Technics SL-D3 I modded with cork stuffing and an AT-120-LC cartridge for sources, a Pluto phono preamp, an Onkyo tx-8020 amp, Schiit modi 1 and Vali 2 for headphones, and Definitive Technologies SM350s for the speakers. I also have a pair of Grado Sr 225is, AKG Q701s, and Sennheiser HD280 PROs. I do still plug in the Sennheisers from time to time to check my mixing on closed headphones, but unfortunately I use the rest maybe 3 or 4 times a year now.

Dropping my "hello" here -- Been reading the forums for awhile but never really got into posting, but now I'm thinking about trading away my HD6XX and want to start establishing a reputation ;-)

Equipment-wise, I've almost exclusively bought Massdrop products, but I'm starting to question it even though I want my next cans to be the HiFiman HE4XX since I want to check out that planar magnetic sound.

I use my AKG 7XX for my daily listening but got started on real headphones with the Sennheiser sound, and since I have a small head, the Senn "clutch" really works well for me.

The only Dac/Amp i've ever owned is a Fiio e17k alpen 2, and it has served me well, but it causes me to have to turn up the 6XX louder than I feel I should have to in order to get the feelings I like from the music. Anyone have recommendations for an upgrade?

Happy to be joining the community :)

Welcome aboard, @arcamides!! You might look into a Magni 3/Modi 2 or Modi Multibit (preferable). That is a high-value, high-performance combo that would work well for you, IMO.

Hey Team,

Been a long-time lurker.

Audio enthusiast who is quickly going broke, but would probably now be wealthy if I spent the same amount of money in shares of publicly listed audio companies.

First post - need it approved so I can make a thread (after I've searched to see if anyone else is having the same troubles) about the differences in sound between Audeze Cipher v1 & v2 cables.

Good Evening All,

After many years of lurking, I finally decided to take the time to register an account.

My head-fi journey started way back in college. Although my memory is a bit hazy, I remember really wanting a nice pair of headphones to listen to music while studying. My GF at the time picked me up a pair of Denon AHD-1001s. I really liked those, but my curiousity always wondered what "better" sounded like...

Fast forward almost a decade, and I've since owned a Fostex TH-X00 Ebony, Focal Elear, Audeze LCD-2C, and Audeze LCD3. After I got the Elear, I finally picked up a DAC; a Schiit Gen 5 Bimby, and an amp; an Asgard 2. I still have the Bimby, but have upgraded my amp to a Lyr 3 to drive the LCDs.

I'm not sure how much I'll be posting, but if I feel like I can contribute back to the community, I definitely will!

Hi everyone,

I'm not really into the Head-Fi as a "Hobby", I don't have the budget despite some interest, but I appreciate music better with at least "decent" quality.

I'm trying to get a good rig and be done with It. I was satisfied with the sound of my Geek Out V2-->TH-X00 PurpleHeart but the Geek out V2 died on me and I'm trying to find a replacement.

Audio gear has been evolving quite a lot since 2016 and I'm trying to catch up... I'm a bit lost right now, I don't want anything transportable anymore, but probably a separate DAC and Amp, something reasonable sized that would stay on my desk .

Things never break at a good time and I'm quite on a budget right now, so I take my time and read forums to find a good pairing for my TH-X00 and accumulate a bit of money, I'd like to find something sounding good with both my actual headphone but that would also be versatile enough to work nice with other popular choices like HD-650 should I want to try them later..

I'll lurking for now, when I'm confident about what I want i'll probably post for advice right now, I'm considering Soekris 1421 and Headamp GIlmore lite mk2 but I'm afraid I'll end-up with something a bit on the bright side....

As a side note, I'm located in France so US based offers are less attractive pricewise to me than most because of VAT, customs and huge transport fees :/ specially If It ever needs needs repairs. Also please excuse my poor English.
