I for myself can't decide if I like my AK70 or my Rubato better. I just keep both.

I`m thinking about AK70 or rubato, but I bought the ak70 , for a very good price, the sound is fantastic and the gdu,for apple users, is very good.
Cons: sometimes is very hot

I have AK70 for a year and use FA heaven IV (1 armature driver). I really like ak70 but sometimes I want more low frequencies.
Moreover I think about fiio x5 III. But fiio is bigger and heavier...

It has an equalizer that you can access through the settings menu:

You can try the "pro" setting, or create your own settings if you wish. Hope this helps!

It should, I have no problem with mine. (The "pro" setting is very subtle.)

Well, it looks like you have the only AK70 that has EQ that works. As previously noted by myself and various other folks on in this tread, EQ never worked and by now it is obvious that AK have no intention of fixing it.

I honestly don't know. It certainly does something, but because I never use the EQ it might well be that it does not work as it should.

The pro setting did change the sound (subtle) on my AK70. I am very sure of that. Custom EQ never worked.

I was able to build and use one custom EQ that worked. I added a little base for an IEM. It seemed to work for me. The process to build it and then use it was pretty clunky. I did not try to build more than one.

On a different subject with the AK70, I am planning on buying one of the new 400GB micro SD's for my AK70 if A&K says it works ok. Is anyone else thinking about doing this?

I have spoken to our engineering team in detail after discussing EQ issues with a few people here in this thread and on Facebook. Our team is looking into the issues and hoping update the EQ settings in a future firmware update. Let me check in with the team and see if I can get an update.

Patience will be required. Delivery from Amazon is showing 2 to 4 weeks, and I don't plan to buy one until A&K says it tested ok. A&K said on their FB page that they would test it, but did not say how long they expected it to take.

All of Astell&Kern's players including the AK70 should handle the new 400GB cards without an issue. We are waiting to get a few in house to test and will make an announcement as to official support once we get the chance to test them out.
