Hi,

What DAC and HF amp should get for these cans and active monitors.(xlr connection) using an iMac ( USB or optical out)?

Some units that units that I am considering are:

Antelope Zodiac
Benchmark DAC1 USB
Burson HA-160D
Grace m903
Larry DA-11
Vioelectric HPA V800 + tbd amp
Other

Some are integrated Dacs with HF amps and some are just Dacs (v800). I need outputs for active monitors. Either xlr or trs. I also need a HF amp to drive the low impedance, but power hungry k702s. I am interested in sonic accuracy and detail.

Suggestions along with rationales welcomed?

if you are going to use XLR outputs
benchmark dac1 usb is not bad
the XLR outputs of dac1 sounds significantly better than its RCA outputs and headphone outputs

i have dac1 usb and another dac1 called Moon 300d from Simaudio
the XLR outputs of 300d is better than the XLR outputs of my dac1 usb
but the 300d is more expensive

Goohsm,

Thanks for your response. I purchased a Grace m903. It has balanced TRS outputs for my monitors and I ue the headphone out for my AKGs.
