I realize that may be a huge amount for most, but my skinny neck seems to have some godly muscles in it, the HE400 feel like a pillow on my head, so I think I'll be fine with the added weight

Thing is, I have zero issues with HE400 either. It feels reasonably weighted. HE500s feel a heck of a lot heavier than 60g heavier, both in my hands and on my head, in comparison with HE400.

I have zero issues with the he400 also. But the he500 feels like a box of rocks on my head. And the lcd2 like two boxes of rocks.

You have to understand that the human head is basically like an 8 pound bowling ball sitting on your neck. The last thing that I need another pound or so sitting up there.

Well in the newer version of the he500 I have the headband has a sort of foam material inside to make it more comfortable than the previous edition which I had before and I see a big difference in comfortable.

The HE4 is like 96g lighter than the HE400, and the difference is huge. Another 110g over the he400 weight sounds torturous.

I've had the HE-400s for a few weeks now and Im completely satisfied, but Im already thinking about future upgrades lol.

Don't forget that HiFiMan has a new planar headphone model seemingly every month or two

.

Note that they previously had HE-4, HE-5 and HE-6 and now they've added HE-400, HE-500 and.... for those who can count, what do you think is next...

By the way, I have heard NOTHING - just guessing - but note that HiFiMan has used the January CES to show new models.

They've shifted most R&D to their IEM and portable player lines at the moment, namely the RE400/600 dynamic IEMs, and the Hifiman HM901. Probably won't be another planar can for a while.

I just asked in the other he 400 thread and i post here also
I don't get the same amount of bass between right and left channels and need to apply a 2 db to center low ends
I tried to switch, move the velour pads and also invert the way to put the he 400's and i can notice a difference

No problem with trebles

Is someone experience the same ?

Yes, which is why my HE400 is currently on its way to Head-Direct for a replacement.

The right driver had considerably more bass presence. The mids and treble were well balanced, meaning the two drivers had a different frequency curve in thd lower end, then matched up afterwards. Its frustrating really.

too bad, it is more than 50 $ to send them back and i guess it will also take a while
Hoping Hifiman will take my request seriously

They'll replace even if your reason is "my HE400 gave me the wrong look the other day".

In all seriousness though, channel imbalance is a pretty severe issue and they would be more than happy to replace it for you. Yeah the shipping cost kinda sucks. Be sure to stress that they have to test the replacement unit for great bass balance. That's what I asked with my HE500 that I replaced, and the replacement has insane channel balance even down to 20 Hz.

I should email them to make sure the channels are as balanced throughout the spectrum as possible. If there is one thing I hate, its channel imbalance. My Pro 900s had a bad treble peak on the right driver.

Lol, I see what you did there. But seriously, my right driver had like a couple decibels over the left driver in the treble. It was annoying.
