Hi, I hope this is the right place to post this :)

I'm trying to find a good headset to go with my new MixAmp 5.8 Wireless that I'll be using with Xbox 360. I bought both a Razer Caricharas and a Sennheiser HD555 to test from Amazon, but it seems (from reading throught these forums) that I can do even better for my money. I'd like to spend under $150 on the headphones (i have a ZalMan clip on mic) and I'd really prefer to have a closed set of cans than open (so I can use them as I please in public/LANing). Any advice is appreciated, I'm upgrading from Turtle Beach x31s so this is very exciting

Check the ATH-A700's.

Edit to above: AD700. A700's are closed...

Ah. Nevermind. I see now that he wants closed. I am not sure what closed cans are best for gaming. My Sennheiser HD448's had quite a large soundstage for a closed phone.

That's hilarious, I was about to order the A700s from Amazon. So you have had a good experience with them? Did you use them for gaming or just for music? Also, to the poster who mentioned the HD448s, are those the best closed offering by Sennheiser in this price range? I like the HD555 style/comfort, but they aren't quite as booming as I would like.

Well, for gaming they probably are. Pretty bass light so no muddying up the sound like you may get with HD428's or HD438's.

Alright, I'm ordering another order of headphones from Amazon... They include:

Audio Technicha ATH-M50S
Audio Technicha ATH-A700
Sennheiser HD448

Sound like 3 good sets for comparisons sake?

Well, for gaming, people usually favor details and location. M50's have lot's of bass but aren't the best for positioning etc. They're a GREAT first headphone for music and a bargain for their performance. Other headphones have larger, "better" soundstages though, meaning better accuracy in telling where things are coming from. Are you planning on returning stuff?

I want to add that if closed isn't a priority, AD700's are seriously some of the best gaming cans out there. If I had to pick, for gaming, under $200, AD700's all the way.

Yea, I've read this both on this site and the MLG forums. I may have to buy them and just see if I like them to keep as my gaming only set.
