so who here has the w3000anv ha5000anv combo, or even w5000 ha5000 combo?

I have w5000 ha5000 combo, but unfortunately I haven't done too many comparisons to other amplifiers, so it's difficult for me to judge its performance.

I guess the majority of us here don't have that kind of money for a $2800 dedicated amp (if I am correct with the price). My ultimate amp to own is the Yamamoto HA-02 and it's like almost 2k here in Australia.

I have compared the W11JPNs and the W3000's side-by-side over the past few months and actually preferred the W11JPNs most of the time.
The pair of W11JPNs I used have a very unique sound signature, ultimate luscious in the mids, less agressive in the highs and have more body overall. The W3000's can make voices sound thinner than life at times. The W11JPNs always convey weighty rich vocals. I love them for this. But the W3000ANVs do have better sound stage, detail and fr balance. It's just that some recordings really sound tilted on them. The W11jpns are so easy to listen to on almost any recording. It might be that not all W11JPNS' sound exactly the same. I know that differences have been reported on other AT production runs, especially of that era.

Woah, then you would really hate the W5000s :p The W5000 sound almost always better with Jpop

...I ended up ordered the W5000 instead. $867+shipping (AUS dollar). I can't wait for it...I guess my next purchase is to repurchase the W1000x (=.=) since like I already said, I did not take care of my original ones very well T.T
Then my entire latest ATH W-series collection is completed XD...well, the discontinued ones are very hard to find anyway but I am still happy

Yesterday I was sent home from work, sick. My medical cert says to have today off too and I have slept a lot and feel much better. This afternoon I went through all of my headphones and compared them. Firstly, I have too many headphones. Secondly, these have a lot more bass than I initially thought they did. Comparing them to the HD6X0 showed me this. It's funny how distorted your perception becomes after you become conditioned to a sound. I know the AD2k gets a name for its mids (and highs) but they aren't bass light. Thank god, otherwise they would be insta-ear bleed cans. Picking up my HD800 after not using them for close to a month.... Umm they sounded like crap. Where did all the bass go? After 10 minutes, I thought they were sounding great again. A/Bing shows differences. It doesn't mean you can't enjoy a headphone because it has flaws. It's why people still adore the HD650.

To summarise, the W3000 is a truly enjoyable headphone that I don't find fatiguing over time. It has great detail and lovely (coloured) mids, a tailor made recipe for me.

For me, put my AKG 701 next the rest of the stuffs I have got, clearly it's a boring headphone. But I find the AKG 701 got a class of its' own even though it is still under 50 hours burn-in. Last year, I thought I would never like the 701 because of my addiction to Sennheiser, but after an audition with a 300+ hours 701, it sounded a lot better than I thought and it is not boring at all. In the end, I am glad that my ears aren't so fussy at all :)

Thinking about trying some new headphones in addition to my W5000 and AD2000. Thinking of picking up another W3000ANV or a TH900, D7100, or SA5000. So many options..
