Finally my Aurvana In-Ear 3 arrived

So after some first listening tests I want to share my first impressions.
Wearing comfort is very good for me, once you figured out how to place and insert them. Noise isolation is very good, a lot better than what I could achieve with my v-moda Vibes. I tried them today in train and outside noise was hardly noticeable when wearing the Aurvana and music playing. I only used the medium sized silicone tips that were attached by default. The cables look a bit thin and fragile, I hope they won't break to easily.
 
Now to the musical qualities. Audio source was my ipod nano 5th generation.
What can I say after about the first 2 hours of listening? I would say the aurvana 3 have a very balanced and detailed sound. Compared to the vibes the amount of bass they delivered was lower, but not to a degree that might make them sound too thin or treble based. On the other hand the level of detail and clarity they offer is better. I could hear some details with the Aurvana, which I did not notice with the Vibes before.
So my overall first impression is very positive.

Two questions:
Could you measure the diameter of the nozzle? I'm curious at what tips could fit.
Could you post a photo with the aurvana's inserted in your ear? Then we have a idea how they look.

The nozzle has a diameter of 5 mm and a length of 8 mm.

Looks very nice. Not sticking out, nice strain relief. I think this one has earned his place on the 'wanted' list.
Also the bigger diameter nozzle gives plenty of options for other tips if the standard ones aren't good enough.

Nice pic. Figured it would be wider nozzle as the Westone Shure size would probably be too small for the dual bore design. That would be the same size as the newer UE and my CLX60. Good for Jays tips, some UE, Sony hybrid style, and Monster but Senn, old UE(gray translucent) and some others would probably fit loose. In between but a great size as some of my favorite tips would work. E2C black olives which focus on bass and the Jays/Pioneer which are better for transparency and a crisper high end. Head-direct big Bi flange as well though the standard and UE bi flanges probably wont stay on without an adapter/spacer put on first.
 
What do you think of the cable? The Aurvana Air cable is reviewed as solid and stated as "manufactured with a thermoplastic elastomer coasting to minimise that effect, and tangling". Hopefully this one is also well done(based on the reviews anyway). Thin has me worried but that doesn't have to be bad. Might be the deal breaker though. They needed to be done right since they run over the ear and get body heat and sweat/oil on them.

So would you say that this iem is more bass, mids or treble focus? How are the vocals? Are you hearing any sub-bass notes (for example, the two-driver SM2 can go somewhat deep when called upon)?

I thiught they'd be a type like the ADDIEM also but they are showing 2 nozzles which can really help with tuning.

Yeah. Yep, look at the thinness of the cable.
Otherwise nice strain relief. Seems better than Westone ones.

Well for the Aurvana 3 the only official statement about the cable is that it is a "premium, high purity oxygen-free copper cable". However when looking at the pictures from the Aurvana Air, the cable looks pretty similar. It looks like they have the same plug and Y-cable joint. So let's hope the cables will do their job well

I would say the focus is based around the mids, but hard to tell for me. I like the vocals they produce, very clear and good presence. Listened to some Tarja Turunen tracks - just amazing
I think they can deliver sub-bass notes. To test I chose 'The game has changed' from Tron Legacy soundtrack which has this very deep going electronic hits and to my ears the Aurvanas played them very nice and deep. I also discovered that I didn't have them fitted optimal in my ear regarding bass output. By slightly pressing, pulling, turning them I could get some better bass output then I had in memory. So I think I still need to experiment a bit more in this area and maybe also try some of the other eartips.

got a pair. the shell is very big and hurts my ear a bit. the notches on the strain relief hurts the ear as well. overall quite uncomfortable to wear. the sound is mid concentric, treble is ok, not very detailed. bass is very low in quantity. I will try with other tips to see if the fit and sound improves.

What happened? This thread really stalled. I don't think these are gonna be FOTM. In multimike's pic they do look quite big as DigDub says. Maybe some measurements of the housing dimensions will be of help. Size could be scaring some people off.
