New Beyerdynamic T1 (2nd Generation)

Great review. So if you could only have one headphone with your TT, would you take the T1 2nd gen or HD800S?

Tough call...I'll have to think about that one...but I'm leaning towards the HD800S.

Well.
I'm not that experienced as many of you. But for me in case of HD800 vs T1 (whatever generation ans serial number for both) it is just the metter of personal taste. Both are very good. Both have some minor faults. I've choosen T1 due to: more comfort, more solid finish (I don't like HD800s painted plastic..., better look and better price, more natural trebles.

But both are great and give lot of fun. Few years ago I was not shure if it is worth to buy flagship. Now I now it is worth. Even after ABX tests if these not show 'ultimate superiority' to premium class (K702, HD600...), after long term it is evident.

I'm joining the thread with T1 V2. Great headphones. My 2 years of research and lot of listening to the other models is finally closed for longer period. Solid build and very neutral and natural sound through whole audio spectrum, PRAT, soundstage and so on... Just right.

Powered with Lampizator Level 4 and Lovely Cube (whole modded with better PSU).

To me it is absolutely sufficient and well textured. I have DT150 which have opinion to be bassy headphones. DT150 does not go as low as T1, but got more 100hz bass cloud. This bass can be overhelming. In T1 bass is never too exagerated. It helps to achieve good if you use 100ohm output of your amplifier, and of course amp should be powerfull (voltage suffcient).

Bass quantity with T1 will increase in time when pads will be better fitted to your ears. Few weeks of use...

Really? I wouldnt expect that even after reading your review.

You haven't read my HD800S review.

 (Seriously...I haven't started it yet).

Both are excellent refreshes on two classics that have "corrected" some of the most glaring issues for me.

I think it would be hard to do an ABX test of the T1 and HD800, unless if you didn't know what they were. Because if you are familiar with them, then you can immediately tell which one is on your head :)

Personally, I find that most of the time if I needed to do ABX test to decide, then the differences probably isn't that big in the first place to warrant it.

I think I know what you mean... Interestingly I somewhat like the original T1 better than Gen. 2, but clearly prefer the HD800S to the HD800.

That is interesting. Actually Tyll just noted on innerfidelity.com that he thinks the Gen. 2 is up to snuff for him to review (something the original wasn't)...but looks like we both agree on the HD800 v. HD800S.
