New Beyerdynamic T1 (2nd Generation)

I'm not familiar with Dekoni earpads in general but, based on the measurements published on their website, they all change the frequency response of every headphone to some extent, so they must be somewhat hit or miss.
I have tried different pads on my T1.2 and my findings were the following:

- Sheepskin: just avoid this. It will make the T1.2 sound too dark and almost boomy.
- Velour or mesh fabric: too much hit or miss. Some of them will make the T1.2 sound very shrill and thin.

So, in my experience, it is better not to mess around with random earpads and just buy the proprietary ones - like the EDT 1990VB (which are essentially the stock earpads the T1.2 came with), or the T1.3 pads, which will give you also the opportunity to try the absorber disks.

Similar sound signature with the Dekoni's? T1.2 is damn near perfect as-is and I'd hate to mess up a good thing, but my pads are getting old.
better. imo of course. super comfortable those velours. brings out a bit more bass as well. unless my old ears are hearing things.

The Burson Conductor 3, Focal Arche and Fidelice all work well with the Beyerdynamic T1 Gen. 2
Hi, I'm looking at the T1 gen 2 and finding if my Focal Arche can drive it, it's really hard to find an answer and after see your comment I was hope that the Arche can really drive T1 gen 2 because in specs info of Arche, which we even don't have much or more details info, it's say that the max output of Focal Arche is 1W at 32ohm but I don't know it is unbalanced or balanced output. I was try to drive HD600, HD800s with Focal Arche in hybrid amp mode, very amazing but with 600ohm it's may another story. Did you pair the T1 gen 2 with Focal Arche?

Yes I did, a few years ago. They worked well together.

Can't help you with a comparison - I've never picked up an HD800 or an HD800s. And my T1.2 is long gone too.

The headphone output of this player is outstanding. Almost offensive to call it only a "CD player headphone output".

Thank you, that made me very surprised about the Focal Arche, I'm going to check and order a T1 gen 2, really excited to see how difference it is with HD800s.
Just acquired a pair.

I find the (PEQed) T1 Gen. 2 [w/stock cable] to sound more balanced and transparent vs. the (PEQed) HD8xx [w/Full Screen mod and Audio Envy ToneKraft cable]--comparable, some would argue, to the HD800s.

While perhaps not quite as wide, the soundstage from the T1.2 is deeper and more realistically laid out in 3-D space than the Sennheiser.

The HD8xx are more forward and perhaps a tad more resolved in the midrange while the T1.2 [to my ears] sound more even-keeled across the frequency spectrum. The T1.2's bass response also goes deeper, with better control and articulation. The Beyer's treble [to my ears] is less fatiguing, but still well-extended and detailed.

The Sennheiser presents individual voices/instruments on a larger scale [but to my ears this can come across as exaggerated and "unnatural"].

Even with an accomplished OTL amp [Feliks Euforia EVO], I prefer the T1.2 to the HD8xx|FSmod. [I also preferred the Amiron Home to the HD8xx with an OTL.]
