Hey guys, it's been a while that some really interesting reviews from this man "Stanley Foote" on amazon has engaged my mind by quite different approach and insight that is in contrast to the majority. I thought it's good to share it and have the experts opinion here specifically about the term of "Transparency". How would you prioritize HD800 - T1 - DT1990 in transparency and detail retrieval? Please take a look at the links below...

The T1 is a very transparent headphone that's not as roomy or tidy as the Sennheiser HD800 or HD800S. The Sennheiser HD800 and HD800S have the ability to make more room for sounds and present them with a sense of spatial blackness between them. So you get that 'special' type of sound that some people consider more transparent and some other people don't.

To me, the HD800/S is often like a very clear window to something that doesn't look 100% real. While the Tesla T1 is like a slightly less clear window to something that looks real. So you get tons of information from HD800/S, likely more than from the T1, but it's like looking at an amazing rendering instead of a photograph of the real thing. The rendering is so 'perfect' that it might let you extract more information that's hard to pick up from the photograph, but you know it's a rendering and not the real thing for some reason.

Keep in mind that recordings, listening levels, DAC/Amps, personal hearing properties and preferences always play a role.
Subjectivity should be taken as such.

Thank you for your comparison between T1.2 and HD800, very nice, I think I get your point. I will keep my T1.2 for sure.

It's interesting that people keep referring to the 1.2 as bright. I think they're incredibly dark headphones. Certainly nothing like the DT880, which are painfully bright.

Maybe there's a major QA issue at Beyer.

After the initial break-in on my new T1.2. I have to agree it’s a rather dark sounding headphone, but I also find it very transparent and engaging. It’s definitely darker than the DT 880. My first T1.2 was stupidly bright.

How would an original chord hugo compare with some of the more frequently mentioned amps? Like the felix elise, beyerdynamic a2, beyerdynamic a 20, bottlehead crack, etc? As I'm currently just using an acoustic research ar m2, but I thought as all the chord hugos seem to be on sale, it might be a worthwhile/significant upgrade?

I think so. I was pleasantly surprised by the Impacto. It’s not the best DAC/Amp combo I’ve ever heard, but it’s amazingly good for the price. I think it’s a great partner for the T1.2.

Impacto is just a normal SABRE based dac/amp. Not to say it is bad sounding or anything, but it‘s just a way too overpriced for what it is.

I wouldn‘t invest that much into it but would instead get a more universal solution usable with other headphones. E.g. DFR, which is also perfectly capable of driving T1 with a same sound signature for less money.

Connection to an iDevice is a huge plus for me.

What the difference between the GEN1 and GEN2 drivers?
I actually bought from someone this headphones that one driver replaced in the lab to GEN2 on the left side (so I have now one side from GEN1 second from GEN2).
