My beloved IM04 just broke...
I also have IM03, but I like 04 sound much better. Exited for LS400. I hope that IM04 gets fixed, and then use them until LS400 price drops under $400.

Regarding the LS70/LS50, if I understood correctly, they have different chambers from the original IM70/IM50 but i'm curious if the dual symphonic driver is the same.

I'm also worried about the new connector, i'm a big fan of the 2-pin from the IM series.

Interested with these.. My IM50 with SpinFit is still my daily driver.. Bummed that they decide to use the new A2DC standard instead of keeping the older one.. If the LS70 is good enough I may not be swayed to get a Pinnacle P1 in the near future.

Why stop at 4 drivers? Why dont they make 5 and 6?

Stuffing another 1 or 2 BAs in a already pretty packed shell? I guess this has to do with pricing. It has been quite a while since ATH made a "serious" TOTL product. Focusing on the Mid-Fi market isn't a particually bad thing, though. And besides, why stop something which was so successful? The IM-Lineup was highly praised.

You'd figure that, with the advances in BA technology, most manufacturers would go back to a more straightforward 3-way/3-driver setup for their flagships (like any decent 3-way monitor speaker) and concentrate on crossover implementation and packaging instead.

I like to think, for 6 and up.. You better look at the offerings from smaller, more exotic brands. A company with more portofolio has to consider more than their IEM lineup, which divides R&D budget and time allocation as well.
You can't deny at $100-600 is where things sell and the normal upper limit for such a niche hobby.

wow and here i am with my im70s, they refreshed so fast after the e series already

doesn't look like the ergo improved...

if anything it got more angled! i would like a side profile just to see how thick they area

i liked the smooth housing on the im70 (but even then they were not just very practically designed)

i wish audio technica would take the design more seriously... even the e series look a bit "hard" edged with the plastic pieces.

and they decide to take that another step further....
