The AVplay connector could definitely be better.
It was soo bad the display on R8 started to flicker like crazy!

I could not stand the sound of Pearl-48 Sounded forced and less defined(night and day)

On this last rearrangement of my setup I forgot the cable supporters, I always used them before.

This seemed to fix the crackling noise. Thank god the R8 is shorter than he9😅

EDIT: just happened again. Weird periodic noise thats concerning.

Any advice? I can not stand the AQ sound

EDIT2:

Cable looks crooked, the white line on the right one is not levelled as the other

Heads up:

The AVplay cable I bought from Alixpress is too loose for the i2s connectors.

Today I got very weird crackling noise. I thought it was from the auto-dim.

Then I thought it was ground loops. It was so bad I thought my system was broken.

I changed back to AQ PEARL-48 = problem solved. Fits real snug

I really hope the Tubulus Concentus V2 is not that loose as AVPlay, Its on the way😳
Not loose, on the contrary. There is a concensus on it: crazy pricey but crazy good!

Try spdif too. Could be anything upstream.

I think its the R8 I2S port that is not very deep. The avplay does not really "click" into place, but the AQ does like its meant to be.

This is one of the things that are so bad about consumer interfaces. Lack of locking connectors. HDMI is just crap hardware. It would be awesome to get IIS over some kind of locking connector.

How many wires does IIS need for our DACs? I wonder if a DMX connector would work.

RJ45 was good for that.

That's true it's better than an HDMI connector, but I don't like RJ45s either. If I had to choose between the two then yeah, I agree with you.

First, a big thank you to the group on this thread. Very informative. I am coming from the Gustard R26 (see setup in my signature) and recently ordered the R-7HE MK3, thanks to this group. A bit of a risk for me to say the least but this thread convinced me I was headed in the right direction. On my list of contenders was the Holo May KTE, Denafrips Terminator 2+, DCS Luna (preowned) and the newly released Audio_GD R-7HE MK3. This group put me over the top for the Audio_GD, thank you. I look forward to participating in this group as actively as I did with the Gustard R26.

Great choice! Let us know how it goes.

Remember, the R7-HE needs a lot of burning hours.

Thank you @PLGA. Great reminder, I believe the consensus is in excess of 500 hours?
