for games, specifically FPS games, which are the meat of my gaming diet, YES.     obviously, i'd have it off for the rare music listening from my computer (most of my music listening is done at work).   for movies, I'll likely be doing the majority of my movie watching on my large panel LCD in the living room via the AV System (my wife green lighted the purchase of a new home theater receiver and surround speaker system to replace the $400 Pioneer HTIB that we've had for the past 9 years), so yeah, this card is largely going to be for gaming, with some sporadic movie/music.

i'm an FPS gamer too, it makes everything sound hallow and metallic to my ears.  different strokes for different folks. i realize i'm in the minority as most gamers love it (even the discerning gamers of head-fi).
