I went from 1.20 to 1.21 and mine failed.

did you run the upgrade file first? If you did and the device doesn't fully boot back up, run the 1.21 firmware file (not the upgrade.mfb) and it should reboot and get things going again. at least it did with mine
I went from 1.11 to 1.21 using just the upgrade file. The only thing I did do beforehand was install the 1.30 version of the control panel.did you go from 1.11 to 1.21, or did you go 1.11 to 1.20 to 1.21? the latter was the path I took and the 1.21 upgrade file didn't seem to finish (Mytek logo stayed multicolor) after I few minutes I loaded the 1.21 firmware and that ran until completion and then the DAC was functional

I have a curious problem with my Brooklyn DAC+. I always listened to music with the "MQA Decoder" enabled. Today I disabled it because I wanted to experiment with the PCM filters and I noticed a crackling noise in the right channel with PCM 88.2, 96 and 192Khz tracks. The crackling noise is very evident at the beginning of the track and in quiet passages.
DSD files are unaffected by this problem (I tried x64, x128 and x256 tracks). PCM 44.1Khz tracks are also unaffected by this problem.
This happens with a sMS-200ultra connected via USB. I tried the same PCM tracks using an Oppo 203 connected to the Brooklyn DAC+ using SPDIF and did not find any problem.
I am using firmware 1.21 and I do not have the jumper installed (I mentioned this because I read @Skampmeister's post mentioning noise in the right channel somehow related to the jumpers).
Any ideas why this problem happens only with PCM tracks above 44.1 Khz, only on the right channel, only with the USB input and only when MQA is disabled?
Thanks!
I do not have other players with a USB output, only the SOtM sMS-200ultra. I already opened a ticket on the Mytek's support site.First try a different USB port and make sure your USB drivers are up to date. You might need to open a support ticket with Mytek.
Thanks for replicating the problem. I can confirm your findings:Huh! I just replicated the problem with a 192 Khz track. With MQA disabled I can hear slight crackling in the right channel when this particular track goes to silence for a few moments. Skipping to this section of the track produces the same clicking each time. I've tried it with other tracks and to me it only seems to happen with a song is fading to silence. Some things I noticed:
1. You can see the signal level jump on the Brooklyn DAC+ on the right channel only when the crackling happens.
2. With MQA Enabled, the crackling is gone. HOWEVER, you can still see the level jump on the right channel only. For some reason enabling MQA hides the audbile crackling though it's still evident in the signal meter.
Looks to be a bug! I'm going to repot this to Mytek.
Is it only on use that the crackling can be heard?
Thanks for replicating the problem. I can confirm your findings:
Very interesting what you found looking at the meter.
- it is evident in moments of silence and quiet passages
- it is more evident in certain tracks, like Amber Rubarth's Sessions from the 17th Ward (Binaural) 192/24, that is unlistenable because of the crackling, than others.
- the crackling noise is not random, it is the same all the times.
Just to rule out possible bad interactions with the USB player: are you using the latest DAC+ firmware (v1.21) and a player different than the sMS-200ultra?
Thanks!
Yes, I'm using the latest firmware and I'm playing on my Win 10 PC via Roon.
