MYSPHERE 3.1-UNIQUE in SOUND&DESIGN&BUILD QUALITY

Here’s the EQ setting mentioned:

EQ for MYSPHERE 3

My first proposed EQ can be found here:
https://www.head-fi.org/threads/mys...und-design-build-quality.819658/post-16796657

Now it’s time for an updated EQ setting that:
• allows for louder listening,
• has fine-tweaked midrange,
• and features a controlled, punchy bass extension, following Harman down to 50 Hz.

The EQ uses a 51 Hz Hi-Pass (Low Cut) filter with higher Q.
This Q of 1.5 boosts some bass and the cut limits subsonics in favour of a better controlled bass and higher possibly sound level.

The Treble-Shelf-Band is not used (Gain = 0 dB), but frequency and Q are pre-set to adjust treble to taste.

4-3.54.9k2.9Peak
5+7.54.2k1.0Hi-shelf

This is the resulting EQ curve on my RME ADI-2/4 Pro SE:

Following your logic, i would understand that k1000 and mysphere, because of the same father. is that what you mean? And this is a perfect product?

I am not a good sound engineer like Heinz, but i dare to affirm that mysphere was created by Mr. Heinz's ears, and my ears are different from his. i find distortion, and i find the bass is not enough when pulling the driver away from the ear. i also say that they have uniqueness and advantages. i am not saying that this is a bad product. they are very unique. please listen carefully to what i want to convey.
If you heard distortion you had a defective unit or a mismatch with your equipment

I don‘t think something was defective - the Mysphere drivers are built very well, don’t easily break.
Of course, by the free air principle, it has a loudness limit (see my postings above), but that’s located above the range that can be considered ear-healthy.

Opposed to what some people write I even did not find my Mysphere 3.2 (110 Ohm) exceptionally “hard to drive”.
It was a big mistake to scare people from buying them, by telling they would need expensive and exotic amps for them to work, which simply is not true.

Of course they are not 115 dB/mW IEMs, but I hardly ever need more than some 50 mW to drive them - any decent amp can do that.
E.g. my portable Qudelix 5K is far from full power when I listen, WITH power-consuming EQ enabled, and very pleasurable results.

One thing happens with lots of TOTL headphones:

They reveal the partly very bad quality of contemporary “Loudness War destroyed”, badly mastered music tracks, which very clearly and very audibly distort, because they are heavily overdriven to squeeze out the last bit of loudness, on cost of all other qualities.
With Hiphop, EDM and Pop this unfortunately is almost “standard” these days.
This music isn’t made for being played on quality systems, instead it’s done for smartphones and boom-boxes.

Mysphere, with it’s almost “electrostatical” resolution, should be used with good recordings to shine.
With those they give a real treat.

Definitely agree with you on this. On well recorded music, they are sublime! :)

Still a legend ? Ps lol
What characterizes a legend?
Something unique, special and good, offering what others don‘t.

In that regard, absolutely yes!

Seems there were changes at LB-acoustics / https://mysphere.at/

“Shop not available” and a hint to directly contact Heinz Renner:
“For request please contact HEINZ.RENNER.HR@GMAIL.COM

Maybe the last chance to acquire a new one, which makes it a future legend even more.

At currently 35 °C here I’m enjoying my legend-airy Mysphere 3.2, where I can’t stand other types of - padded - headphones 😅

Wow these are like different headphones with this stock cable I received today. Had to buy one just to hear it as it (3.2) was designed! Much more of all arounder with this cable, gives up a hint of resolution (maybe) and bass to the Norne but is not as shouty with many female vocals I was struggling with. Glad to have both!

What continues to amaze me with these is the incredible intricacies and macro details that they present, layering is unbeatable and every headphone sounds very 2 d in immediate comparison 😆 These will be buried with me.. hopefully on my head lol

Switching back to Norne and wow resolution and 3d is definitely better, but the regular cable makes these much better all arounders, to much resolution results with shoutiness with some music but not with the standard cable, just musical bliss! So definitely happy I have both.

And as mentioned earlier, it's easy to compare being able to have both sides plugged in. These 3.2 continue to wow me with their natural detail and dynamics with the obvious huge holographic soundstage.

One thing I've noticed with the Mysphere 3.2 is that it can reproduce audience clapping very realistically, as well as sounding the best of all my headphones. I prefer them with either the Crinacle or Oratory1990 EQ via the Merging Anubis Premium - still comparing the two EQs. The AKG K812 is pretty close, however. The Focal 2020 Utopia is in 3rd place.

Have you tried my EQ?
It‘s closer to Crinacle‘s than Oratory1990‘s, but less drastic so keeping more of Mysphere’s character.
It has it‘s own handling of the bass that allows for a full bass without early overdrive effects:

The soft treble and nasal vocals can be entirely remedied by removing the inside layer from the ear cushions. Pretty simple mod and the headphones sound far better. The default tuning sounds like someone threw a blanket over the driver. They sound faster and clearer across the board with a single cushion layer vs two. I am surprised they went with this tuning but I guess the beta testers preferred the laid back sound. These headphones go from good to amazing with that one change. It’s worth a try and can really improve the sound if you want something with more realistic treble, vocals and attack.
I've returned to this thread several times and hadn't read this wonderful tip. I made this simple and totally reversible mod and the MS3.2 is now sounding just the way I like it... similar to the K1000 haha, my eternal reference.

Thank you! Really!
