^^ That sounds correct. However I feel the main concern is that the amplifier might be dead. Is there any power on light on the amp that can tell you that it is working ? Also it may sound silly but just checking if both power switches on the amp are on (the one on the power supply and the one in front of the amplifier).
 
Also do try a different power socket for the amplifier to see if it works.
 
If this amp is also defective then I suggest you start looking at getting a refund.
