MSB Analog DAC? (Review p3)

I may as spill some of the beans now - I have been working with a tube amp manufacturer on a special secret Squirrel project and we are 95% of the way there so it would be a real disappointment if I couldn't find something that they did as well or better or even different but without losing too much SQ. I say this so you realise I have a lot invested in the outcome being in favour of a tube amp.

Yes these new DACś with world record in dynamic range , noisefloor and more boundary breaking records need a new type of amps that do not reduce the performance/information by 50% as today.

The only company that i have heard will do this is Chord with FPGA power amps thats why DAVE got the Quad 768Mhz future outputs on the back. These amps will not reduce any information of the signal from the DAC, so its like using a DAC direct.

Hope the make a amp dedicated for headphones with 2x 3pin XLR outputs in the future, but i don't have so great expectations sadly.

Upcoming digital power amps for DAVE, either terminate Silver Spore4 with bananas/spades

Dave has 705/768 kHz DX digital outputs to go with my digital power amps. These are non-switching, but still retain the analogue simplicity of two resistors and 2 capacitors plus a single global feedback path. But power output will be from 20W to at least 200W. I just finished testing the DX outputs today.

The first DX power amp will be available next year and will initially be 20W RMS with a 70W mono-block option.

Or hook it up with Olasonic NANOCOMPO NA-BH1 like this

Another "crazy" idea would be designing a pair of cans to take advantage of DAVE's DX digital outputs, even Intel invested in Trigence Semiconductor and they're already selling headphones / speakers based on their Dnote

That already worked just fine with USB 2.0 so maybe a pair of ultra-high-speed coax shouldn't be such a big deal?

The 20 watt upcoming Chord Amp should go hand in hand for our Headphones or why not go with to mono blocks :wink:

Sounds like i have to sell my beloved HeadTrip amp straight away when i receive it almost!

Most interesting time ahead of us!

Myabe we should start buying stocks in this company . Trigence Semiconductor Inc !? This can be a revolution, if you dont need to convert it to analog any more.

If its possible to buy stocks in this company, before Intel / TDK buy them.

I think I am going to pull the trigger. It is amazing dac. I hope I can sell my K-05 as soon as possible.

Been there. After I've had it for a few days to review and test it, I couldn't get it off my mind! After a few months it was in my house. Good luck! :D

Thanks, Dan. Have you tried Signature? Since I love Analog so much, I start to think about Signature. Crazy!

I tried signature 4 and diamond, but in their showroom. not at my house. They are very good, but analog dac with quad usb is pretty close to the old signature 4 if I remember correctly. However, from what I've heard, signature 5 is another beast. @negura had analog dac and signature 5 side by side and he found the latter to be a considerable upgrade. Btw, the new V series is based on the same designs as analog dac. Negura said that signature 5 sounds considerable more detailed, more transparent, analogical / organical and very close to real life.

Upgrade remote with the same colour and the soft touch finish against the cheap "plastic" MSB Alu system remote
wink.gif

I hate the default remote that comes with analog dac. I've seen better remotes in 300$ products. I don't get msb with this stuff sometimes. They want to extract money from every little detail. At the price analog dac comes it should have more features out of the box in my opinion.

Ah and it is very frustrating to know that you have different filters or no filter options inside the dac but you cannot test them without another 1k$  module.

But congrats on the new remote. It looks quite dandy!

Btw, did anyone try to test the filters?
