I'm looking for a nice set of closed cans to listen to at work (no amp). My price range is up to 300, and these two pairs of headphones are the best matches I've been able to come up with.
The major tradeoffs between these two from what I understand are comfort vs portability. The earcups on the d2000 are incredibly soft, where as the phiatons look a little bit more minimalistic and they fold up. Cable quality on both pairs looks to be in the crap tier, but I like the idea of a recabling project, so that doesn't particularly bother me.
I guess what I'd really like to know is if anyone has had a personal experience with both headphones, or one and any other contender. I'm open to suggestion on other models, so long as they are in my price ranged and closed back. I've tried some ultrasones, but I found them to be very rigid and clamping (not comfortable enough for long listening sessions).
